FedEx Home WAS a subsidiary of FedEx Ground. It has since been absorbed and integrated into FedEx Ground. Since FedEx Ground focuses on commercial addresses, that is why they were off Saturdays. It made sense to just combine Home with Ground, and basically do what the post office has a doing for years. This is not going to kill UPS. It is being done to keep pace with competitors who already offer service on Saturdays. I foresee that as word spreads about UPS working Saturdays, some businesses may decide to take advantage and ask for service, delivery and pickup. As for Monday plans, what are operations like for you guys on days like Black Friday or Good Friday, when volume is extra light. Here, some drivers start at the normal start time, while others start much later, around 1PM. These drivers focus mainly on pickups, and don't do much if any deliveries. This is how envision Monday is going to operate. I remember it being said our building, with 6 delivery centers and 40-60 trips per center non-peak, will only run 75 trips for the entire building on Saturday. Also told preload will now load on Saturdayso rather than Mondays, since most of the stuff should be in by Saturday. A light skeleton crew will load on Mondays, similar to the types of preload operations seen during those andforementioned days like Black Friday and Good Friday, well Black Friday before it was turned into a regular work day. I put my name on the Saturday list, for the reason given above about doing errands on Mondays. For those married with kids, this is a day you can be a part of that regular week routine of school and whatnot, interact with the family in a different way. And you'll still have Sundays. When I decided to put my name on the list, I explained my reasoning to several other drivers, some who had swore they'd never do it. The list now has 7 names on it; was 8, but one guy crossed his name off. Interestingly, about half of the list are new guys who'd probably be forced in anyway, so at least they won't be upset when it happens.
