Ups stock

If you're young then starting a 401K is a better way than investing in UPS stock .
Start at a % that you can live without , increasing it at every raise .
The choice of how to invest is yours .
In the Teamster/UPS Plan stay away from The Bright Horizon options , their fees are to high .
Look at every funds fee schedule , they are posted and the idea is to keep your amounts growing .
Either a traditional 401K ( deferred taxes ) or any Roth Plan ( already taxed ) are both good ideas , having both would be ideal .

Is buying stock at a discount a good idea or put that extra into 401k? Thanks for any thoughts.

You rely on UPS for so much of your savings and retirement plans.
Diversify in a Roth 401k plan.
I like dividend based stocks and indexes.
UPS is a dividend based stock but there are many others that are better.
Vanguard has one (VHDYX) that works well for me ... low 0.2% fee and little churn.

Vanguard has a lot of very good low fee funds. I have money in a couple of them.
