Expansion Will Provide Customers With Technology Solutions That Facilitate and Streamline Global Commerce

UPS (NYSE: UPS) announced that it is making it easier for customers in Latin America and the Caribbean to conduct business around the world through the implementation of web-based shipping applications and visibility technology tools such as UPS Internet Shipping, UPS CampusShip®, UPS Quantum View® Manage and UPS Developer Kit- Applications Programming Interfaces (API).

The technology expansion will save customers time and money by streamlining the preparation, management and tracking of their small package and freight shipments whether international or domestic.

The countries that will benefit from the technology expansion will be: Argentina, Bahamas, Bermuda, Bolivia, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Venezuela.

"Our investment in technology aims to better satisfy the needs of our customers, regardless if they ship a letter or high tech components, subassemblies or finished goods," said Jose Acosta, president of Latin American operations and public affairs for UPS Americas. "By adding these tools to our portfolio of services and technology solutions, we are making it easier for our customers to expand around the world."

Using UPS for international and domestic shipping, customers in Latin America and the Caribbean will be able to leverage the technology tools for creating shipments, tracking them, and gaining visibility in their local language. Some of the elements of UPS technology are:

UPS Internet Shipping: is an application that creates shipments through UPS.com. The address book functionality helps ensure correct shipping information, while shipping histories and e-mail notifications provide better shipping insight. The streamlined screen layout eliminates multiple page and forms, allowing the customer to manage all transaction details on a single page. With no software to install, this is an easy-to-use, free desktop shipping solution.

UPS CampusShip®: web-based shipping solution that allows employees of companies with widespread facilities and decentralized workforces to easily process and ship packages with UPS from their computer desktops. CampusShip gives transportation and mailroom decision-makers centralized control over shipping procedures and costs.

UPS Quantum View® Manage: is a web-based application that provides customers with package status information in an easy-to-use format without the need for tracking numbers. Quantum View Manage provides ultimate shipment visibility for all inbound, outbound and third party shipments, in a format that can be customized to suit user preferences.

UPS Developer Kit (API): these Applications Programming Interfaces (APIs) allow businesses to integrate UPS technology into their existing business systems or website, integrating UPS transportation functionality like rating, shipping, or tracking, facilitating e-commerce.

"The implementation of the technology tools is one example of how UPS is always trying to make shipping easier to its clients," concluded Acosta.
