upser.com?

Yesterday we bought the domain upser.com... someone else had let it expire and seemed like a good name to buy to go with the topics already on this site. Any suggestions for what could be done with it?

BTW, it's not upsers.com, that's the UPS employee site...

Thats an idea Rod.
For some of the more aggressive speakers. Then again, maybe not. I really dont have any ideas, Cheryl. You got it all about covered.:happy2:

make it a no rules site- no mods- no limits on anything:happy2:
Cool with me Rod, but if I speak my mind on that site, will it effect me being a mod on BC?
I will have to think of where the new site could go.
First, it will have to make enough revenue to make the effort worth while.
As I typed that, I had a thought, make it a pay for view site.
Porn is the biggest money maker on the net and makes the money on membership dues.
It would keep the anons and trolls at bay.
The talent and imagination of the BC crowd could come up with some pretty cool merchandise that does not conflict with UPS copyright.
I will contemplate this further.

it is very similar to upsers.com and I'm surprised that ups never bought it.
They could take offence that it takes you right to the browncafe.
But then again even more upset if it stood for unlimited porn siters.com
I bet they would be eager to buy it if you did that, and they have lots of money :)
I like the idea of selling browncafe tshirts, hats etc.
Maybe some members have some good ideas for the layout.
The cute little truck is cool,I'd like one that just uses the font
and words brown cafe...Maybe we could save the money and
use it to buy booze for the big browncafe meet and greet in
morelucks backyard.
I'll bring the bacon , she has huge tomatoes.

A while back there was a thought of doing something with the history of UPS. A museum as it were. How about something like that. I like the idea of the store too. Or maybe a notice board for things for sale, want ads (of course this one could be strictly for members only).

I dont think they could complain, or they could have bought it. It could be for united pot smokers, (im sure no one ever saw that) or united package smashers, or one of a million acronyms.

I don't want any trouble so I checked out the UPS US trademarks before we bought it and there was no upsers or upser.

We had registered browncafe.com, browncafe.net and browncafe.org a long time before UPS decided to trademark brown. Several years ago we hosted some of the resources that are currently on browncafe.com on the net and org sites.

Cheryl, with the following you have in BC you could probably sell the rights to UPS for a chunk of change. We could get them nervous enough to buy you out.

You won't make any money trying to sell UPSER.COM to UPS. If they wanted it, they would have had it already.

While you are deciding what to do with it, be sure that it re-directs to browncafe.com to increase traffic.

I have no illusions of grandeur about any of this. This website or the upser.com domain are nothing to a corporate giant like UPS. They could easily have their legal team squash this website like a little gnat if it becomes too much of a pest. That's why I try to be as careful as possible about trademarks etc. I don't want to give them any reasons to come after us.

We didn't buy that upser.com domain because we had hoped to sell it. I didn't even remember backordering it because I set up the backorder a couple of years ago. I was surprised when I got the email that there would be an auction because previous owner had actually let their registration expire.

If UPS had any interest in upser.com they would have bought it a long time ago from previous owners, or even backordered it themselves and bid for it at Monday's public auction where we bought it.

If they had wanted that domain we could have never touched it.
