So they say. Working a driver 9 or 10 months out of the year and calling them a casual is just getting around the contract. Just like renaming a route everyday to prevent it from being a bid route.
Upstate NY Casual driver that has not worked all week... Unemployment???

If the casual has x number of reports in a year they become a permanent employee.
I do get benifits and pension contributions as a casual as well as a roving holiday every 50 days as long as i work the 180 hours per quarter. I have been working every saturday but no days during the week due too no vacations scheduled as of yet. I also do have a part time seniority date as a casual in my building.

To me a casual is a temporary summer or peak hire that accrues no benefits during the free periods.

You're probably in the same hub as me...Last week I worked 3 days, but before that I didn't work for 2 weeks. I've been there for about 1 1/2 years and drove for 2 peaks. My title is called, Part time Cover Driver. I use to always get atleast 2-3 days of work in a week, and now since this whole amazon bull

Is a casual driver the same as a preloader being picked to be a temp cover driver and if so can't you just go back to working prleoad if there isn't enough work covering vacations?

Nope. Casuals either drive or stay home.

You are guaranteed your 3.5 when you work the preload and 8 when you drive.

Why isn't part time guaranteed 4 hours.... Most of the time preload gets more than 4 hours a day.... Looks like another giveback from the union

PT guaranteed 3.5 hrs.
It used to be 3 hours when I started. I always worked more than that.

Preload here is 3.5 guarantee. I only worked 3 hours the first week I started there always worked anywhere from 5-7 hours a day when I worked preload.
