Must be writing a freaking novel ... I can't remember him going this long without posting since he went to Carolina with his daughter.
And even then he stopped at WiFi hotspots to post.

Or he is waiting until Friday nite, so he can party it big time ! And get drunk ! :happy-very:
His name is UpstateNYUPSer, not Klein!:surprised:
He's on the site.
His light is green.
A mouse in one hand.
And his mouse in the other.
Ha Ha Ha, good one, Bubs.

In response to the Pension Cut thread, it is true that the NYS Teamster Fund Penion Plan is being changed. We never had 25 and out. 30 and out is being revised. Currently you can retire at any age with 30 years of service and receive what they call a Normal Pension, which is roughly $4K/month. The Plan trustees will be implementing a minimum retirement age (either 55 or 57--this has not been decided or, if it has, has not been disclosed to the members). The Plan, which is a multi-employer plan, will also discontinue its contributions to the Fund and will rely solely on the contributions from the participating employers. We have been told that we will not lose our current projected pension but should not expect to have a whole lot added to it prior to retirement. There has been no talk of a grandfather clause for current employees, which I personally feel is not fair, especially if you are within 5 years of retiring and are less than 50 or 52 years of age. I know of a couple of co-workers who will end up working 5 to as many as 10 years longer to receive their Normal Pension. I will be 58 when I get my 30 so I am all set.

Anyone who is so low as to defecate in a package car needs to find work elsewhere.

It is not an uncommon request to sign a visitor's log. I do it whenever I deliver to our local Bombardier plant. I have to stop and sign in and am supposed to sign out as I leave but the rental cop usually lets me put down put an arrival and departure time so I don't have to stop when I leave. I also have to stop and have a rental cop escort me whenever I deliver to our local Social Security office. He makes me turn my back as he presses the combination on the door lock. I personally think he takes his job way too seriously.

Soccer is the most pure team sport we have but it is still boring as hell to watch.

Scratch, being charged for a broken mirror is simply stupid.

LA fans riot following Game 7. Who didn't see that one coming?

407, I have no desire to accept your friend request.

The APWA is of little consequence but, as was stated in their thread, they do provide information which, when combined with that offered by the Teamsters and TDU, allow us to be more informed members.

Steve, it is your choice as to whether you want to use a cell phone. I consider it to be an effective tool. The one thing that I will not do is call pickups. Our guy who does the mall does this and it is a pain for the cover drivers as they don't. Pickup accounts pay $20/week (sliding scale based on volume) for us to stop by everyday so I provide them with the service that they are paying for.

Lifer, I hope your recovery is going well. It sounds as though Mrs. Lifer is there to make sure it does. I am still a bit curious about this Mistress.

Tie, you are the brunt of a lot of criticism here, some deserved, but you were spot on with your comments regarding signing a visitor's log. A lot of folks here talk a good game about customer service but far fewer seem to walk the walk.

bbsam, I bust your chops about you exploiting your employees but, in reality, I consider you to be an excellent businessman with the ability to adjust based upon any changes within Ground. I do see more and more work being diverted to Ground and it sounds like you are well positioned to take advantage of this diversion.

MFE, I admire your passion but find that it does cloud your judgement at times. The Union is not the be all, end all that you may think it is. Unions promote mediocrity and have actually put UPS at a cost disadvantage to your Ground counterparts.

Sober, keep it up. Your body will thank you tomorrow for all of your hard work today.

Hoax, your subtlety defines you.

The Really Old Driver is the only person on my ignore list.

I am glad aj has returned. She brings a personal touch to the discussion and I look forward to her posts. (and, yes, her avatar is easy on the eyes).

Grocer, Bubblehead, Swordfish--I am not Joe Union but I do appreciate the information that you provide for our younger members who may not be able to take care of their own business.

Red, I think it sucks the way they are dicking you around on your injury. We have a driver who is in a similar situation. Herniated disc, surgery is pending, waiting for Liberty Mutual to get off their butts. He could have had the surgery, done the rehab and been back to work already. Stupid.

I think Local 2727 is a joke. These guys need a reality check. Ditto for Local 804.

UPS needs to go back to what got us here--customer service. I am not talking about the metrics that P-man (whom I have tremendous respect for) describes. I am talking about real customer service. Customers who used to get their pkgs in the morning should once again be afforded this service. There are more examples than I have the time to list but the bottom line is the customers are not getting the level of service that they have become accustomed to and this needs to change. Will it? In this era of an IE run UPS I seriously doubt it.

Steve, I can understand your argument when it comes to natural disasters. A hurricane comes, you put up plywood, ride out the storm, assess the damage, repair and move on. This BP disaster is different and I think the victims of this disaster are absolutely entitled to compensation for their losses. Will there be claims paid that are bogus? Of course--a disaster of this size lends itself to fraudulent claims. However, there are innocent victims (the small people) who have been unjustly hurt by the shortcuts of a mammoth corporation and they deserve to be reimbursed for their losses.

Big John Studd, there is more to life than the Union. ($400 for a Red Sox ticket???)

There are some folks here who think I need to tone down my "act" and that I need to be "nicer". This is who I am. I do not pretend to be anyone else. Like it, don't like it--I don't really care. I enjoy the time that I spend here and hope that I have been able to help someone with some of the advice that I have been given.

Yes, I am an active poster, but not nearly as active as other(s).

I'm out.

Because I enjoyed your input but did not like your self-serving Rep plea.

Great way to start a discussion abouty what BC is.

I joked around and was playing on the varying arguments.

I've been here along time.....

Let's continue this on another thread...

Don't know the background; but it's funny and these two have had a funny banter over the last couple of years.

I'm honored that I was mentioned in both, His 5k and 10k posts. I hope I'll be around for 15k. It's true that you are who you are and I for one don't expect you to change one bit. I value your opinion and the BC friendship we have, even if we don't always agree, I know that the value won't change.

lower canada i do agree that there is more to life than the union. but without the union would you make 30 an hour? would you have a medical card in you back pocket that does not cost ( i konw , i know in 2013 we will be paying ) anything ? would you have a pension ? i know the union is not perfect but neither is the company and i like to know there are people who stand behind me.
i finally realized what kind of person you are after reading one of your posts stating you had put your letter to become management and you were rejected . so keep saying negitive things about the union , keep giving me negative rep. and keep working off the clock .
p.s. there is more to life than this web site and i would not sell the family red sox tickets for any amount of money.
