My wife and I were there in July. We stayed at the Paris, nice hotel located in the middle of all the newer hotels. We went to a travel agent and got a room, rental car, and flight for $1800 for a week. Things to see: Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, Grand Canyon National Park side (300 miles) or Grand Canyon Skywalk. Get a map to these spots and enjoy. Also check out the hotels on Mt. Charleston. Enjoy!

Rent a car and visit Hoover Dam.

My family visited the Hoover Dam and were bored to tears. We had signed up for the special behind the scenes tour which is still really limited. The dam was 'dam' cool itself but not worth the drive out there.

My family enjoyed Red Rock Canyon much better http://www.redrockcanyonlv.org/ and it was much closer to Vegas. Of course, if you don't like the wilderness you won't enjoy it.

Definitely go to old downtown Vegas at night.....The Golden Nugget is a gem with a great buffet.. The Fremont Street Experience is a neat light show in the street....no cars on that street....just pedestrians.

I stayed at Caesers Palace for my honeymoon. It was a beautiful hotel but was so damn expensive. I told myself I would never overpay for a room just because of the name again. My friends and I are going in April and staying at Planet Hollywood. My best friend loves the place and is a few steps down in price from the bigger hotels. If you do Vegas right, you will just use the room to pass out in anyways. :wink2: THATS my plan !! :happy2:

I would take Moreluck's advice on the thread though.

ALSO - The biggest advice I could ever give about Vegas is to get the bus pass to go up and down the strip. I couldnt believe the prices for taxis there. The bus pass was for a few bucks and it runs all the way to the old strip and back down to Mandaley Bay. It ran til about 1am in the morning. (from what I recall)

Thers lots of nice places, stayed in many of them. The Mirage,Hilton,Mandaly Bay,Belagio. The Sahara was more budget friendly yet still nice. Hef makes a point,as long as it`s clean you`re not going to live there forever.

I nearly always stay downtown, usually at Fritz. Not fancy by any means but clean and comfortable and cheap. Fritz even has $2 Blackjack and a McDonalds, a short walking distance to five other casinos.
I have stayed at Ballys and it was very nice.
If you are staying on the strip, don't let the term "right next door" fool ya, it's equivalent to most city blocks or more.

Remember, this can be yours for under $500 per week ! Includes free shuttle to and from the strip every 30 minutes ! (only minutes away, anyways)

You sound like the last of the big spenders! :happy-very:
If you dont have it, you cant spend it. We have dug ourselves out of credit card debt, and i will be damned if I am gonna go down that road again. My wife stays home and takes care of both of our mothers, who are not in great health. They are constantly going to the doctors, and we are the only ones who stepped up to take care of them. So I am not a big spender, but take care of what we have to. Believe me, we wish money was no object, but have not had that luxery, yet.

All the pictures are fine, but you sleep in a bed maybe 8 hrs. and need a shower. You are hardly ever in your room. I am a gambling person, so I never take advantage of pools, spas, etc whatever else they offer. Give me a big casino and a bed with a bathroom and feed me and I'm happy.
We never pay for rooms or food while we are in Vegas....all is comped.

The Tam'O'Shanter used to be the cheapest place on the strip...but they rent by the hour now!!

I agree with Klein, stay at the Wyndham if possible. We went out to the Rose Bowl a couple yrs back and stayed there and it is awesome! Free shuttle to the strip (Harrahs), or it is within walking distance and you are a 10 min walk to the Hard Rock hotel/casino. Clean, nice, a room with at least 10 computers to check your emails and 2 or 3 very large nice pools. Cant beat it. Lots of free stuff to do in Vegas! Can I go along.....

metrophilly.....i love the poker machines, but the more confusing type games like multi strike bonus poker or spin reel poker.

I also have a fond spot for 4-card Keno....won $7,000 a day for 5 days in a row by hitting 7 out of 7 each day. That was my bestest trip ever!

You will like Vegas. Not the gambling but just for the sites to see. I never gamble much but do look around alot. Some of the people will just amaze you.

Don't worry too much about Raw, she seldom has anything nice to say.
