How did the VA department get so gravely understaffed and underfunded?? Hmmm...
Of course, those of us who have complained about this issue since 2003 went largely unheard on this board because everyone was busy with the freedom isnt free, we have to cut the deficit, we have to sacrifice, yadda yadda yadda, but this problem has been around longer than Gen Shinseki has been in charge of the Va.

You all supported BUSH and his cronies in the the white house and congress, and now you dont like the outcome?
You mean, you all believed that massive cutbacks to the VA system wouldnt lead to a systemic failure of the system?
Or, is this just another timebomb BUSH set to blow up after he left office, like the economy, housing, jobs and the collapse of the banks?
Of course you all will hymm and haw about bringing BUSH back into the conversation, but hey, blame yourselves.
Because of people LIKE YOU all (who voted for bush), you all condemned our veterans to this type of horrible treatment.

Wow! GWB says he's the bestest prez ever for veterans? He sure did add an extraordinary number of them to the disabled ranks, no arguing that.
In spite of having fewer veterans, due to WWII vets dying fast, our expenditures for veterans care has skyrocket, because of the injuries suffered in a phoney war, and people surviving injuries do to medical advances that would have killed them 20 years ago.

BUSH only increased funding after the disastrous conditions of Walter Reed were discovered.
Our VA system has been broken for decades. Funding and cutting of funding creates tomorrows disasters.
Its unfortunate, but its the reality of veterans healthcare.

I think what youre trying to say is that BUSH for 8 years let the VA run itself into the ground, then on transition day, notify the OBAMA team of problems, then you wanted them fixed overnight, right?
Nobody has ever believed the VA was a well run machine, and with two new wars piling more veterans than could be handled into a broken system, what did you think was going to happen?
Did you forget there were two wars pumping thousands of soldiers into the VA monthly?
Of course the waiting lines are long, the IRAQ and AFGHANISTAN wars are injuring thousands of soldiers.

It's hard to blame partisan budget cuts on problems at the VA while there is so many allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse going on there.
