The winner most certainly influences how history is written. That winner was almost the south. If France had won the Battle of Puebla. They would of set up shop in Mexico and helped the south to victory. This is why we celebrate cinco de mayo.
Sooner the better. It is crazy that we cannot get answers on WTF happened. It enrages me. Just the truth thats all we want. If it was a blunder admit it. If people need to fall, let it happen. The people in charge are paid to do a job, as we are.
Is that really what you want? Because part of the problem is that one answer leads straight to a more puzzling question with tangents of implications but little else. Look how far we've come from Romney's late night proclamations of fact.
On a side note, who accountable for the breakdown in security with the Cole? I only ask because I think military excursions become muddy and unclear when things don't go as planned and we sit at the armchair QB level acting like we would have done things differently. I'm guilty. I like Condi Rice, but I still think she was too focused on China to see Al Quaida.
Things are different now. If its Bushs fault, let it come out, if it was Condis fault, let it come out, if It was Clintons fault, lets see it, and if it was Obamas, we need the truth. In this day now of 24/7 news cycles, I dont care who blew it, or why, or maybe it was just unfortunate. There is no reason for it taking 60 days to get the truth. I know we can get a guy who hit a little girl in the dark, in a little lit street, and bring him to court in less than 24 hrs. Why is it with cables and memos and leaks, and inuendo that we cant get the truth on fast and furious, Benghazi, why the hell people cant get assistance in NJ and NY, but we can instantly find out anything else we want.

things aren't different now. The Cole was bombed in October of 2000: January 20th of 2001 Bush's incoming team was advised that preliminary investigation suggested al quaida. March of that year it was confirmed. Thi isn't about who was at fault at this point. It is about the investigation in a very messy part of the world. It takes alot of time and suggesting that someone isn't being transparent ignores the dificulty of the task at hand.
