Started PT in Nov 76 in a small driver sort and load facility (about 15 drivers, 2 carwash/fuelers, 2 clerks, and myself.)My job was to unload the trailers down a conveyor belt while the drivers stood behind their respective PC's and took what was theirs. If I got behind, a driver was chosen to jump in and help me. There wasn't enough work for 5 hours, so after everyone left, I portered. Swept the entire building, emptied trash cans, cleaned bathrooms and basically whatever needed to be done to get my 5 hours/day. Jan 78 a driver got fired, creating an immediate opening. They posted the job and since the other 2 PT'ers (clerks weren't eligible) were in the middle of a school year of college, I took the job. PC driver from Jan 78 until 85, when I signed a feeder bid. Stayed in feeders 29 years till my retirement in 2014. A sidenote: The 2 PT guys who were there in 78 still work for UPS. 1 has stayed PT to this day and the other is a PC driver today. I worked in 3 different progressively bigger buildings.
