What are some stuff that could get the employees fired?

You are wrong. What do you mean if a dog hit's on you? What if your at a concert/party and someone hands you a joint or your next to the pot head smoking? No sorry I don't smoke, ok pass it on. From What I read in the contract is that you need to have two supervisors witness that you may be under the influence, then both have to escort you to a drug testing facility. Random drug testing is only reserved for accidents,Feeder or you come in "friend'd" up. Things may be different in N.Y.

So you are telling me that if a drug dog is brought in to your facility and while he is searching package cars or packages on the belt he alerts on an employee that nothing would happen to that employee?

I'm really not even sure what he is trying to suggest? You'd think he would be used to being wrong by now.. apparently not. Upstate you need to clarify what you're suggesting.

Would this person be in possession of marijuana? Dogs can false alert from their handler, alert off thousands of smells like a steak in your back pocket or the piss and **** of another dog. They have no moral compass with drugs. There is no chance a dog alerting off you would hold up in any form. The dog is excited to see you, exact same thing as alerting to drugs. You need to read up on how these dogs work and what their purpose is in the scheme of things. It certainly isn't to walk around a hub sniffing out employees who smoked before they came into work...

Pretty sure UPS can't touch this one. Well unless you told employee X "Hey mister, I don't like the cut of your jib, and my Mossberg out in the trunk feels the same way!". Can't say for those that work at an airport, but as to the hub I work, you can leave the peacemaker in your vehicle with no problems.

if your car is parked on UPS property (employee parking lot), you can get fired.

Not according to what I've read in the contract. Unless it's changed you need two sups. to agree that said employee may be under the influence. I believe one must be trained to know(recognize) when an employee may be under the influence. I myself have witnessed an employee get caught smoking during break on the preload and "TWO" sups accompanied this person to the drug testing facility.Where this person resigned before testing(imagine that).

I've never heard of urinalysis for anyone outside of somebody who had to because of insurance claims purposes, or feeder drivers.

I'm not sure where you guys work, but I've never heard of drug sniffing dogs in my building. Its kind of laughable. If they were out to get hub employees in trouble for smoking weed they'd eliminate half the workforcee and even most of the supervisors.

That notion is silly.

We have officers in our building on a routine basis looking for drugs. In packages not on employees.

It didn't take place at a private employers work place. That's not what I meant sorry. I just meant read into more of Florida's gun laws.

All good Johney. I could've been more clear in my post. I wasn't really referring to "you", I should've wrote "everyone" needs to be sure that the law in their state is clear on the subject. My apologies.

Those dogs and the DEA officer that handles him are a regular site at many airport facilities. Also, they show up on the Metro shifts to sniff outgoing packages. They aren't just sniffing for drugs, either.

HARTFORD — A lawyer for a man charged with trying to take delivery of about $6 million worth of cocaine at a UPS facility near Bradley Airport had his bail reduced from $2 million to $500,000 cash Tuesday in Superior Court.
Edwin Olivo, 37, of the Bronx, was charged May 18 with possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with intent to sell after he arrived at the UPS facility with a U-Haul truck he'd rented in the Bronx to pick up the large crate shipped to Bradley from Puerto Rico. Police said it contained 242 pounds of cocaine.

This must have been a UPS Freight facility.

There is no limit.... Thats why you are paid overtime. Unless state law says different.

In another thread you stated "I mean if they dont want to provide us with FT jobs at least pay us more for our years of hard work."

So it begs the question.... Do you want to work more hours or do you just want more money ?

I was asking because unlike fellow teamsters who are FT i have another job to attend because i am still PT. I heared hey can only hold PT up to 5 hours and FT untill the work is done. There are times when i want to leave in 5 hours and i was just asking if there was language on this issue in our union book. In regaurds to pay amount, i was just referring to the fact if FT insiders and drivers have a top rate why cant us PT have one as well ? Of course after a certain amount of years of service
