What can't you do on lunch break?

Anyone else swim on lunch? It's only warm enough for a few months here, but the lakes are clean cool and you feel great afterwards. Never asked if it was ok, don't plan on asking. I can't think of a better way to cool off.
Had a driver recently get called in on that was swimming in a pool on lunch.... in his brown shorts.......not in his neighborhood he belonged to, but one that a UPS corporate person lived in.....he still works here but won't be doing it again.

I have bought lotto tickets. Visited the Liquor store. Had some one pick me up for lunch off area. Most restaurants I go to for lunch I eat at the bar.

The best is when I'm close to my house and can take lunch there. Only been that lucky a few times.

You can do that. I would recommend not getting caught. I doubt you would get in trouble but you would certainly be embarrassed.

You really think you wouldn't get in trouble? That's a guaranteed loss of job.

Something has to be clarified for some. Just because you're on lunch and off the clock, doesn't mean you can do whatever you want on or in UPS property, that being the PC.

On the other hand, if you were close to home and stopped in for lunch and felt the urge to bust one out, they can't stop you from doing that. LOL.

It should be obvious what is appropriate behavior in the PC, and what could get you fired. Don't masturbate, don't have sex, don't look at porn, don't do drugs, and don't drink alcohol in the PC. That basically sums it up.

Going to a liquor store and buying some but not consuming.
Probably ok in uniform, but I wouldn't do it, and then you'd have to transport it in your truck and in the building so I wouldn't try it. If I got a bottle of alcohol as a tip from a customer I'd advise my sup to cover my :censored2:.
Buying lottery tickets.
Definitely ok if you're on lunch.
Taking lunch at a strip club, either in uniform or changing in the truck prior.
You'd be okay if it was on area and you were there to wash your hands, use bathroom or eat and not "partaking" in the adult entertainment in uniform. If out of uniform, and not servicing the strip club before or after lunch then I wouldn't park directly at the club.
Going to an indoor shooting range in uniform.
I don't see how this breaks any rule.
Going to a cigar, smoke or vape shop and buying tobacco.
Definitely okay.
Leaving your truck secured on your route and having someone pick you up to take to lunch off area but returning in time.
Definitely okay. You need to be able to be fully relieved of all duty.
Picking up another driver from a mall and taking him to lunch so he doesn't lose his parking place.
Gray area. If the other guy is in browns and is working that day but on lunch a termination wouldn't stick, but without management permission technically the other driver is an unauthorized passenger, so I would get permission first.

Bottom line, if you are on lunch and not in browns you can park your truck and go anywhere and do anything as long as when you return to work you won't be under the influence of anything that would impede your ability to drive safely...so no alcohol, etc on lunch. As for the browns, if a driver has a question in his mind about whether something they are doing is okay, don't do it in the browns. Just throw a t-shirt on and make sure you're not wearing visible ups socks.

Or if you were to get in an accident while in someone else's car while away from your PC.
That wouldn't be an issue. You're not on company time on lunch and not in a UPS vehicle so you're not an employee for that hour. Only issue is if you didn't get back to your truck on time. You'd have to notify your sup and then stay off the clock until you were back to your truck.

good people drink good beer
If you think you could get in trouble for something then maybe you shouldn't do it. I try to make it a policy of not having to explain things. Makes life easier.

In all seriousness, drinking on a lunch break, no matter what time of day you choose to take it, is the very last thing one should be thinking about. If you do, there are problems that belie simply having a beer after work.

And honestly, I have seen more than a couple of people busted for this in different buildings, firsthand. Nothing to play around with.

Yup...i've seen a bunch of guys fired for this...a few went for treatment and got their jobs back but still had to deal with pissing in cups and management riding their :censored2: for months after.
