Well, like I said before the election, "if the republicans lose this race, the party is dead as you know it". Now, there are voices within the party calling for that change while people like Limbaugh, Hannity and such are using their airwaves to REJECT change. One voice for GOP change is the former RNC leader and George Bush campaign manager KEN MEHLMAN who has ADMITTED to being GAY. Hiding his homosexuality all his life finally took a toll on him, and he has come out and admitted it publically. Along with that public admission is "HIS" call for the party to accept SAME SEX MARRIAGE. He believes the Party should embrace this concept and stop trying to invade in peoples lives! Ex-RNC leader Mehlman discloses he’s gay - The Boston Globe This is great stuff ( excerpt ) """Mehlman's leadership positions in the GOP came at a time when the party was stepping up its anti-gay activities -- such as the 2006 distribution in West Virginia of literature linking homosexuality to atheism, or the less-than-subtle, coded language in the party's platform ("Attempts to redefine marriage in a single state or city could have serious consequences throughout the country..."). Mehlman said at the time that he could not, as an individual Republican, go against the party consensus. He was aware that Karl Rove, President Bush's chief strategic adviser, had been working with Republicans to make sure that anti-gay initiatives and referenda would appear on November ballots in 2004 and 2006 to help Republicans."" The party of hypocrites! Its only a matter of time before KARL ROVE gets OUTED as well. What about Condolezza Rice? Bush Campaign Chief and Former RNC Chair Ken Mehlman: I'm Gay - Marc Ambinder - The Atlantic C'mon C9+ers , cant you see yourselves saying this in 2016 """I hope that we, as a party, would welcome gay and lesbian supporters. I also think there needs to be, in the gay community, robust and bipartisan support [for] marriage rights.""" Does the republican party need to adopt this style of thinking in order to win in the future? or will the party triple down on a failed party platform? 2008 loss, 2002 loss, 2016? should be a loss if things stay the same. What does the party need to do to change its appeal to the voting public?
