Why am I not getting paid more as DG specialist?

Do you use a Code 20 when processing/entering in to AutoDG? That is why, so they can track how many hours are used to process DG and determine how much of a premium they want to pay for it and how much it will cost to do so. Not sure when the actual change in pay is supposed to take place though.

so, basically that extra hour at the end of the day that you may be processing dg will get you an extra 25 cents an hour...for that one hour only but keep in mind if you allow something to go through the system that shouldnt, and it spills..explodes, you are personally liable. let your dg certification expire, it was the best thing i ever did

I was in the same boat...they had me doing DG for a long time too. Amazing how they quit using me to cover as a DG specialist right about the time I would have recieved an automatic bump to that pay level, isnt it?

Your extra pay is that extra hour, despite the extra responsibility that prevents the company from getting FAA fines, prevents planes from potentially falling from the sky, provents pilots and crew from being harmed by improperly placed Radio actives...

Enjoy the extra hour compliments of Fred..

Don't forget you are probably Spill Cleanup too.. putting you at potential risk of infection or death, but they'll pay you for the time you work while cleaning up that blood sample...

I have seen several HazMat spills be called "water", "teriyaki sauce", and "detergent" when managers did not want to stop tbe sort to properly identify/cleanup the spill.

Aint that the truth. But as the DG specialist, your the one person the managers cannot override if there is a spill.

I once saw management dress up in Hazmat Suits and respirators to clear out the freight from a couriers van. They had heard she had an infectious virus and sealed off a part of the warehouse. It was like a scene from the movie Outbreak.
Turns out she had a yeast infection and their intel was bad. I bet they had some splainin to do....
Some managers are so stupid they should have their own reality TV show.
