The gov't would not say they dismissed the case if FedEx paid a fine.
They would say they settled out of court to save face.
The dismissal alone proved they couldn't win the case and also proves UPS's lawyers are terrible.

I wonder how much in tax payer's dollars was spent on this whole thing including investigating UPS.... I'm betting more than the $40 million they got out of UPS.

I always thought it was a stupid case. UPS delivers a prescription twice a month for my wife. No way it's UPS' business what that drug is or what doctor prescribed it.

I remember the usual suspects who were so desperate for FDX to lose that they all but convicted them (here, at least) the minute the charges were levied.

Anyone who works for FedEx in Ops knows we carry a LOT of drugs and that FedEx doesn't really care if it's a local dealer shipping or some big online drug scam. As long as The Weasel gets his money, it's all good.

I could go to any station in this country and find a treasure trove of illegal drugs, each and every day of the week. FedEx does everything they can to keep the police and Feds out of ramps and stations because they know what's in almost every can we haul...drugs.

FedEx, America's Illegal Drug Delivery Service since 1973.

We have agents and dogs at the stations in this area on a regular basis. It's not a big deal. If we didn't want them in, they could easily get a warrant.

Have you considered the fact that once we start questioning the legality of the packages, it opens up a huge liability?

The only thing we need to worry about is haz, because that is regulation and it has the possibility of destroying other packages. Someone shipping an 1/8th of weed or "herbal" viagra is not going to bring down an airbus.

If the feds were that worried about drugs, they could have dogs at the hubs nightly.

I doubt it. I see very few, if any cops and/or Feds in either stations or ramps. More denial of the way FedEx really works.

Every day at my station except Saturday. They even have a cage for the dog that is always left at my station. We also have a fancy X-Ray machine used by the K-9 guys.

The security company has also been training at my station to be used at my local Ramp.
