The dispute in question is currently on going and I will report the details of the vagrant verbal and physical abuse of a driver by a mid-level management representative of United Parcel Service. This account is one for every media blog on the net, more to follow.........

    See ya,

Buster Browneye with my eye on the brown, so here is the scoop…..

On Aug 19th 2009 a UPS Center Manager crossed the brown and yellow line. According to sources inside the UPS organization a driver was involved in a smack down, physical altercation with a driver for the company. Information compiled from eyewitness accounts stated that a Center Manager from a facility located in Missouri, abandoned his company office, and drove over twenty five miles in his personal vehicle to the driver dispatch lot, located near a west bound Missouri Interstate 44 truck stop. The drivers dispatch lot, which is behind the Interstate 44 truck stop, is where UPS management infringed on the personal liberty of UPS driver. Sources that were near the driver dispatch lot claim, the Center Manager entered the back of a UPS delivery truck and attempted to assault a UPS driver. However the driver returned the favor and the Center Manager confiscated the UPS delivery truck with one eye shut and one shoe dragging behind his management arrogance. Law Enforcement official were called to the scene after the Center Manager made a pleading phone call to police. Police records indicate the Center Manager attempted to file assault charges against the driver, however polices officials did not warrant charges due to evidence indicating the incident was self-defense. After a one week UPS investigation the driver for the company was terminated from his fifteen year position with the company. The Center Manager still retains his current position within the UPS organization.

Buster Browneye again keeping my eye on the brown…..

Recently I discovered a policy while reading the UPS investor website:investor.shareholder.com/ups/governance
Crisis Management and Workplace Violence Prevention

“UPS is committed to a safe working environment, free of threats, intimidation, and physical harm. Everyone has a right to work in a safe environment and shares the responsibility for assuring each other's safety. UPS has adopted a zero tolerance workplace violence policy. This means we will investigate and take appropriate action against any threat to a safe workplace.”

The key word in the introduction of the policy is zero tolerance. According to Black’s Law Dictionary
“The policy of applying laws or penalties to even minor infringements of a code in order to reinforce its overall importance and enhance deterrence”

It seems in the case of the driver zero tolerance was not applied and the manager was excluded. Clearly the definition and the policy that UPS states as ethical business practice is sound logic. However the application of the policy was not enforced in the situation between the driver and Center Manager. Zero tolerance is equal not one sided regardless if you are in a subordinate position or in a managerial position.

This Manager is still on the job, working and directing the work force at this center. The explanation that I got was that the company was trying to save face after their wonder boy got spanked. Any fool can see how counter productive this move is. He has no respect in that center and should move on. BYE BYE BABY BYE BYE

this company is run by a bunch of wanna be uneducated thugs. The contract and ethical guidelines are not meant to be followed by management just enforced when the hourly does not comply.
