It's the way we have organized to get things done in the public and private sectors is undergoing the most profound shift since the Industrial Revolution. All people alike feel a disquiet, bordering on despair that goes far beyond the gloomy economic statistics. Since we are continuing to print money to pay for goods and services, a government budget deficit leads to an expansion of the monetary base. By simply reducing the growth rate of the money supply to lower levels, inflation can be prevented. We need to understand the underlying reasons are the adherence of policymakers to a high employment target and the presence of persistent government budget deficits. Bank regulation in America has been highly successful in protecting depositors, but it is a mixed blessing--encouraging excessive risk taking by banks, thus numerous bank failures. There is no doubt that economists and planners don't much like bawdy capitalists. Think small think flexible, think efficient. Size is no longer an intrinsic asset in competing in an global economy. President Obama has the politician's great gift of being able to persuade masses of people that his policies are not only possible ones, but simple common sense that only a fool couldn't accept. His arrogance might be one of his strenghts, but it will finally become his weakness. Not comprehending the essential role arrogance plays in creation and renewal is as dangerous as underestimating its dysfunctional side effects.

Good post. I definitely agree. I think his arrogance could be his downfall.

:smart:I'm waiting for someone in the entertainment industry to "pitch" a Reality Show for our "regional area" .....Hmmm, I think it would have every element needed for keeping the viewers entertained and tuning in every week to see : who gets voted off, who gets voted in and on, who gets laid off or on and who makes it to the next episode without needing therapy :) It could be called "Blood, Sweat, and Tears" or "Sex, Lies and Videotape". It would tease the audience with moments of violence, vendettas, friendship , heartbreak, neckbreak and of course a 10 min break in between the first and second hour. I wouldnt miss an episode! gotta love it:peaceful:

I'm hoping that all the eyes and locations that are registered within this site can help me find a 1979 or 1980 Cheverolet Silverado, short wheel base pickup. My dad had one when I turned 16 and I loved that truck. Would like to find one and fix it up. These trucks aren't collector items so they are hard to find. I frequently check all the normal web sites....their not there. If you see one in your travels and can get the contact information/details I would greatly appreciate it.

I have two very irrate bosses in my building.Due to the economy and the extra stress on them they been taken it out on all the drivers. The one walks around like he wants too rips someones head off.The other looks likes his heads goin too pop off his shoulders. Both the guys need too be more people person. As a ups driver when i see this it really puts a damper on the the way ups says they are a great company. Ups would get more out of there employees by not yelling and screaming at them and not trying to fire them ever chance they get. The company would get more quality work done if the brought there employees closer together, encourage them in the time we are in now..FOR THE 2 BOSSES WAKE UP AND TAKE CARE OF THE PEOPLE THAT TAKE CARE OF U

The main boss in my buliding is hiring over 30 new casuals this season. His whole idea is too keep our overtime down, and keep us at 40hrs. I understand he's tryin to save money, but he's hired so many that i'm doin less work then before. I would rather do a little extra with less casuals and get an 1 hour overtime aday. The way the economy is he didn't have too go this extreme with so many people. Also they hire anyone most of them can't drive.

UPS Part-Time Pension

This is my first post but I feel it is very important to all. I started here part-time in 1990 and was finally hired on 9 years later to a full time driver position. When I started cover driving a year later, it was explained to me how the pension worked for part time employees. If we worked 1500 hrs in a years time, we would receive a full years credit or 12 points. For all hours less than 1500, we would get credit appropriate for the hours worked. Recently, I have been trying to find out just where I stood on retiring. It has been brought to my attention that UPS will recognize only the first 750 hrs or 6 points worked during a year and anything over is gravy for themselves. This was not my understanding and this puts me way off track for retirement because 8 of my 9 part-time years were full 1500 hr. years. Can anyone shed some light on what I should do?

Beaver dam, that is. My friend lives just over the line in New Hampshire. His land is bordered on two sides by a large stream. Every few years beavers move in and build their dams which start to flood his property.
Well, it's been about five years but they're back.

So what we end up doing is making a big hole in the dam. We did that this morning. Dropped the water level 14 inches just in the hour and a half we were there.

Now tonight when the critters come out to rebuild, we'll be waiting on them. With flashlights and a rifle. To do this at night, you need someone with a very bright light to light up your target. I have painted my sights white, and taped a small flashlight to the side of my rifle to illuminate the sights.

Wish us luck!
