I was just curious. I was terminated about 10 yrs. ago for having a benzodiazpine prescription from my MD. This medication was was to be taken at night due to inability to sleep,as well as severe leg cramps.( The MD stated as such in writing)U.P.S determined that I was unsafe to drive. The thing that still burns my ass is my physician stated that this medication taken as instructed would have no effect on my ability to drive at my start time (2:00 PM) the next day. Benzodiazpines are not one of the 5 disqualifing meds as outlined in the contract. I only had 6 working days before reaching my 19 yr.consecutive safe driving award. The longest such stretch out of our center of 45 drivers. Binding arbitration ruled for U.P.S. The company even sent 3 HR. employees to deny me any unemployment comp.,of which they were successful.I had no work related injuries-didn't even call in sick for over 10 yrs. Just very surprized how quickly the company turned on me. I was just curious if anyone has faced a similar situation?

I totally feel you on that, I was with the company for 5 1/2 yrs and I got thrown under the bus by other PT supervisors like myself. I had a really terrible injury occur that is going to stay with me for the rest of my life due to poor equipment, I spoke with several attorneys and no one would even pick up my case. I was wrongfully terminated but because I stood my ground and wasn't willing to compromise myself to make them happy. They began to pry into my private life to get me out of the company. I could've turned a lot of people in for situations similar to mine but I figured I'd be no better than them. It's really not fair the way the company does some people especially if you had a prescription and the doctor said it wouldn't affect your ability to drive. It sounds to me like they were trying to find a reason to let you go. I'm sorry.
