Lost or Never Sent!

Hi, I have a detective story I need solved. I believe my ex is somehow taking advantage of a UPS system he knows so well by claiming he sent me...

Hi, I have a detective story I need solved. I believe my ex is somehow taking advantage of a UPS system he knows so well by claiming he sent me something he never did. I just don't know and nothing adds up. So I'm hoping I can get some assistance.

A package was at the UPS store with the info "BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED." It was like this for quite some time. It never showed as being scanned at that location. A tracer request was placed on it but over two weeks later it never showed up.

I'm wondering what is the process where billing information is received and a tracking number exists but no package. How far can this package go?

As proof he sent it he showed me the pickup summary report. The pick summary has a "DRIVER SUMMARY" and "Total Number of Packages = 25" and all 25 packages' tracking numbers are then in a list. The main question, as this is the best piece of evidence, is this: MUST a physical package have existed at this point? Since I know you can get a tracking number without having a package perhaps this was was the driver EXPECTED to pick up or perhaps once a tracking number is created something physical is created at the store but its not necessarily with the package. I just want to know if its possible he did not send this package. Please help me!

I've been a small package customer service rep (tampa call center) for over a year now, working from tracking up to the international preferred team. A consistent call when I worked in the domestic part was an irate customer saying they tracked their package and there was a "No such #" or some similar scan indicating the driver was unable to locate it. They swear up and down the address is correct, and that the driver in their area is sub-par and is lazy. I never believed it, but just out of curiosity, does it happen where a driver will just use the diad to simulate an attempt and just bypass a delivery to save time / effort, or is it just rude customers lying?

I have been away from UPS now since Early March of 2008. Before I became a Full Time Driver in october of 2007. I had previously unloaded/Sorted for 3.5 yrs prior. I got lucky and got into to driving early on. I was Starting to work one morning looking through my truck a few minutes before our daily stretch/meeting. To get an idea of what the day would look like for me. Notice i had a fairly large package. So naturally i was looking at it thinking ok this is a big one so now while i am thinking about it where is my hand truck. There was not one on my truck. Since i was the new guy there convientley was never anything i need a good truck or a good hand truck. I kindly asked my supervisor where i could get one since i have a fairly large package to deliever into a long narraow drive way i usually don't take my truck into. He said go ahead i will bring you one out later. Never got the hand truck. Came to the residence where the package was being delievered. My only option is to back this truck in the drive way. I see it will fit but it will be a tight fit. cause i am not hurting my back to carry this 85lb packaged down a 100yrd drive way. So as i am backing i check my mirrors and beeping my horn watching my camera. Notice the owners two labs getting quite close to the rear tires. So i am riding the clutch trying to keep it going slowly. One dog shoots underneath the truck and i turn the wheel on instict to stop for possibly backing over this dog and i clip the edge of the owners stucco mailbox not doing that much damage. Took the corner of the stucco off and put a scrape but not dent in my truck. So i get out to check the damage then proceed to deliever the package BY HAND once i get close enough. I think knock on the door and ring the door bell the owner is usually always home. He never answers the door but i see his office light on. So after about 15 or 20 min. I start freaking out. thinking i just got this job i am gonna loose it i just got engaged got a kid on the way as off a week ago what do i do. So I am trying to think of what to do. Well I was immature at the time and decdied if the owner was not home who would know. I would just tell my sup that i hit tree limb to cause the scrap on my truck. Well as i am leaving the driveway my hub manager send me a message over the diad and says did you hit a mailbox well i replied no. I LIED big mistake on my part i got scared i didn't know what to do but lying is the not the answer. Longer story short i got with the union rep I PAY MY DUES. went to two different meetings one traveled out of state and got stood up. Second waited all day in a lobby of this resort got stood up. Finally second day got in after sitting for a 1.5 days. I sat in a room with upsers and union reps. They did there packets and read out a few things the whole meeting lasted maybe 5 or 10 min. My union rep did not say much if not anything at all about me past what he had to say. I feel like i was not represented very well at alll. I miss my job i loved that job and i was still wondering if there is a way to get back in. PLEASE HELP.

You smell…

Wow, really? A while ago I was brought in, during a shift, to be told that a sup was complaining that I smelt bad. I was shocked by this because the line of work I was in, preload. Time passes and I find myself getting a talk with the main building manager about this (I told her about my gf). I was back then and now going threw some issues at home.

First my mother had gone in for breast cancer surgery. And recently my girl friend had been told she had a brain tumor at the base of her brain stem. I’ve been going threw a lot this and last year I still wore speed stick and spray on polo, then and now. So, time goes on after the talk.

Today I was working and I helped out a friend for awhile, dishing out a stop they said they would cut for him, yet they sent all of it to him anyways. Break is called, like everyday, and we soon resume work. The drop keeps on coming, to the point where he shows me a few boxes with different amount totals on them. Over all, I added just the three up and came down with a total of 201 packages for one stop.

I helped out, and multitask with my cages. Later, near the end, he starts to get full cages. I mean right near the end, like last rev is almost 5-10 minutes away. A few people are sent to help out and I help out by break down cages before they get to him.

The main building manager shows up and is around for last rev. I’m digging hard to get my stuff done and break down his set as well. Well, the manager comes up and says “remember what we talked about? About your body odor? Because I can even come near you. “. I said “well, I am sweating ” she replies, “ it doesn’t matter, I sweat!”. I stopped for a few seconds and said “ok” nodded my head and kept on working.

Of course someone is going to smell bad working the preoload. Sweating for four hours straight will make anyone smell bad. Plus the other things one will come across. To the dust, oil, grease and god knows what else are on packages and other things we come in contact with. Lately, its been so hot during the night (75-85 degrees out) with a 100% humidity, I’ve been soaked completely from shirt, pants, socks and shoes with sweat.

Yet, there’s a few things to be said about this on the managers side. Like the entire overnight amount was late. The ridiculous way the dispatch let all that work go instead of diverting it else where. And the bad supervision (as always) on our side of the center where ultimately playing out that day. I was probably just near by and she deemed me well for a nice little insult. Over all, I like this manager, she’s the real deal in my opinion. But really, was it deemed warranted at the time towards a bystander? ( And one helping out nonetheless )

It didn’t offended me at all. But it really hurt my work ethic. Here I was helping you guys up, greatly I might add, and I had to get a left hook to the face. Like anyone out there would sweat four hours continuously and not smell at all.

I really don’t want to get down and dirty (lol) about this at work. Just take it and let it pass and go in to work tomorrow. Unlike calling out sick as first planned. Can they even fire someone if they smell bad? I mean come one, as I mentioned, there’s a difference from sweating normally in normal conditions then sweating like its raining for four hours, isn’t there?

Thanks for listening!

Edward Bernays, the American nephew of Sigmund Freud, is said to have invented modern propaganda. During the first world war, he was one of a group of influential liberals who mounted a secret government campaign to persuade reluctant Americans to send an army to the bloodbath in Europe. In his book, Propaganda, published in 1928, Bernays wrote that the "intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses was an important element in democratic society" and that the manipulators "constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power in our country." Instead of propaganda, he coined the euphemism "public relations."

The American tobacco industry hired Bernays to convince women they should smoke in public. By associating smoking with women’s liberation, he made cigarettes "torches of freedom." In 1954, he conjured a communist menace in Guatemala as an excuse for overthrowing the democratically-elected government, whose social reforms were threatening the United Fruit company’s monopoly of the banana trade. He called it a "liberation."

Bernays was no rabid right-winger. He was an elitist liberal who believed that "engineering public consent" was for the greater good. This was achieved by the creation of "false realities" which then became "news events." Here are examples of how it is done these days:
