Ontario is cancelling old red-and-white health cards; promises 3 warnings
TORONTO - Millions of Ontarians could find themselves without health insurance coverage if they ignore government notices to get a new health card.
There are still more than 3.5 million Ontario residents with the old red-and-white health cards that have no expiry date.
One of them was CTV health reporter Avis Favaro, who discovered her OHIP card had been cancelled when she went to a Hunstville walk-in clinic after suffering a bad reaction to an insect bite.
Favaro was told she would have to pay $60 cash to see a doctor.

Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says, "Oh crap, she's up !!"
I am getting a little upset with your childish digs at the Queen.
She represents our heritage. If not for Britain,we may well be Americans.
We don't bow to her, kiss her ring or anything.Your pennies have Abe,ours have the Queen.
We have our own little country and we do things our way.
Just because you don't like Klein don't roll all 35 million of us into the same taco.
My opinions do not reflect that of UPS.Getting old sucks.
The Commonwealth
June Chua, CBC News Online | December 3, 2003
The Commonwealth is a collection of 54 countries drawn largely from the former British Empire. The one exception is Mozambique, which was a Portuguese colony. While he was president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela made a formal plea to members to include Mozambique because it played a major role in freeing South Africa from apartheid.
The Commonwealth's 1.7 billion people make up 30 per cent of the world's population.
The members have a combined population of 2.1 billion people, almost a third of the world population.
The land area of the Commonwealth nations is about 31,500,000 km2 (12,200,000 sq mi), or about 21% of the total world land area.
The three largest Commonwealth nations by area are Canada at 10,000,000 km2 (3,900,000 sq mi), Australia at 7,700,000 km2 (3,000,000 sq mi), and India at 3,300,000 km2 (1,300,000 sq mi). The Commonwealth members have a combined gross domestic product of over $10 trillion, 50% of which is accounted for by the three largest economies: the United Kingdom ($2.2 trillion), India ($1.7 trillion), and Canada ($1.5 trillion).

The reprieve for the penny will be shortlived.
Pennies don't make sense, especially when it costs more to make them than they are worth.
Anyone can Google.
