TNT Shares Fall After UPS Executive Cools Takeover Speculation - Smart Money
Sunday, U.K. paper The Sunday Telegraph had reported that
UPS was planning a EUR10 billion bid for TNT, and despite initial reluctance from the Dutch company, early stage talks had been held in recent days. The paper cited sources.
However, Monday Reuters quoted Dan Brutto, the president of
UPS' international business, as saying that a deal with TNT would be "something that devalues our shares." He called the takeover speculation a rumor, although he doesn't directly oversee mergers and acquisitions.
