Consolidation efforts by some of the largest worldwide express carriers may be a blessing in disguise for Peoria.

United Parcel Service Inc. officials say the company may end up rerouting air freight to central Illinois through the Gen. Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport after operations are shuttered in Decatur come February, UPS spokesman Mike Mangeot said.
