Default Discuss: Teamsters local asks UPS mechanics for strike vote

Teamsters local asks UPS mechanics for strike vote - Atlanta Business Chronicle
Teamsters Local 2727, the Kentucky union that represents airline mechanics at United Parcel Service Inc., has called on its members to conduct a strike vote.

The vote is expected to be taken by Sept. 14, the union said in a news release.

The contract with UPS became amendable on Nov. 1, 2006, and the two sides have been negotiating amendments since then. The mechanics could strike only if the National Labor Relations Board says the two parties are at an impasse.

There is a time and place for a strike, but one must question union leadership to actually follow through with such an action during the current economic conditions regarding unemployment, foreclosures, etc.

Hopefully, this doesn't go any further than this posturing vote.....

Let's hope it doesn't get that far and an equitable resolution is reached.
