Default Texas, lead on.......

Well whadiya know, first the supreme court, then a jury in Texas returns a no bill on a guy that killed two men.

Seems the guy was home and saw two theives robbing his neighbors home. Called 911. And as usual, a lot of time between the call and the response. So he notices they are getting ready to leave.

911 opperator says stay there on the phone. Instead he is heard going out. Bang........Bang, and pretty much comes back in and says no hurry now, they will wait.

Shame they could not have been the same jury that sent two Border patrol agents to jail for shooting a drug smugler in the a$$. An illegal, drug smuggling convicted murderer no less.

I think the backlash is begining.

THe clipping:
HOUSTON — A Texas man who shot and killed two men he suspected of burglarizing his neighbor's home was cleared in the shootings Monday by a grand jury.
Joe Horn, 62, shot the two men in November after he saw them crawling out the windows of a neighbor's house in the Houston suburb of Pasadena.
Horn called authorities and told the emergency dispatcher he had a shotgun and was going to kill the men. The dispatcher pleaded with him not to go outside, but Horn confronted the men with a 12-gauge shotgun and shot both in the back.
"The message we're trying to send today is the criminal justice system works," Harris County District Attorney Kenneth Magidson said.
Horn's attorney, Tom Lambright, said his client was relieved by the grand jury's decision and never wanted to hurt anyone.
"He wasn't trying to take matters into his own hands," Lambright said. "He was scared. He was not playing cowboy."
Horn did not speak with reporters Monday, and had a "No Trespass" sign blocking the path to the front door of his home.
Lambright said Horn believed the two men had broken into his neighbor's home and that he shot them out of fear for his life when they came into his yard and threatened him.
"He wasn't acting like a vigilante," Lambright said. "He was well within his rights to do what he was doing."
The men Horn killed, Hernando Riascos Torres, 38, and Diego Ortiz, 30, were unemployed illegal immigrants from Colombia. Torres was deported to Colombia in 1999 after a 1994 cocaine-related conviction.
The episode touched off protests from civil rights activists who said the shooting was racially motivated and that Horn took the law into his own hands. Horn's supporters defended his actions, saying he was protecting himself and being a good neighbor to a homeowner who was out of town.
"I understand the concerns of some in the community regarding Mr. Horn's conduct," Magidson said. "The use of deadly force is carefully limited in Texas law to certain circumstances ... In this case, however, the grand jury concluded that Mr. Horn's use of deadly force did not rise to a criminal offense."
Lambright did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment from The Associated Press.
Texas law allows people to use deadly force to protect themselves if it is reasonable to believe they are in mortal danger. In limited circumstances, people also can use deadly force to protect a neighbor's property; for example, if a homeowner asks a neighbor to watch over his property while he's out of town.
It is not clear whether the neighbor whose home was burglarized asked Horn to watch over his house

It is hard to have any sympathy for criminals that end up dead because of stupidity and committing crimes.

Like I said, I think the tide is begining to turn. Time for the criminals to worry and be looking over their shoulders instead of us.

Not only those two, but no-one is going to be robbing that neighborhood anymore.
Mr Horn did a great service to his neighbors and his community. Thank God he had a Grand Jury with the courage to do the right thing, instead of the politically correct thing.

I listened to a talk radio show the other night. The liberal host kept saying over and over, "They didn't deserve to die for burglary".
BS! That made me so mad! You take your chances when you break into peoples homes to steal property. Those scumbags got exactly what they deserved.

When Diane Sawyer was trying to get him to say he felt remorse....and then asked him what he felt the moral of the story was....I would think the moral would be, dont rob, or you are dead. It is sad it has come to this, but I agree with the ruling. It is time we are able to protect ourselves from thugs.

There will always be people who will claim that even the criminal has rights. I say they gave up those rights when they crawled in the window.

I guess if it were to happen to me...I would give them one "right"........the right to remain silent........

Story outta Massachusetts a few weeks ago, guy was in a supermarket shopping with his 4 year old son, and takes the kid to the restroom. Inside a perv starts feeling up the kid, so the father knocks him out cold, then calls the police. Police respond arrest the perv, then arrests the father for assault! And a week later the guy finds the perv still working at the supermarket and gets pissed, and starts picketing the market in the form of handing out flyers saying the store is letting this guy continue working. Store calls the police and the guy gets hauled in for disturbing the peace! F%&ng Massachusetts. i know if I was that guy I'd do the exact same thing, I don't give a crap what the bleeding heart liberals say. DAMN glad I moved out of that state!

but even Texas isn't immune to liberals......TV station in Corpus was doing a story on prostitution busts, and one guy who got arrested kicked the cameraman as he was being walked into jail. The DA refused to press charges for assault and destroying a $10,000 camera saying that the cameraman 'put himself in the position to become a victim of crime' !! People here are calling for his dismissal.

Totally agree with the Massachusetts thing. Here, the laws so favor the criminal. Most of our state legislature is made up of criminal defense attorneys (now it ALL makes sense!).

They are trying to enact a ten year minimum sentense for child molestors. One state rep was on the floor raving against it saying how he'd put a six year old rape victim on the stand and rip her apart so bad she'd have nightmare still she was 8, throw up till she was 10, and never be able to have a relationship.
Real nice guy.

Texas reinstated the "castle rule".
It applies to home and car.
In a nut shell, it means if you feel threatened you can use deadly force.
Common sense will apply, also, to this rule.
People do not jack with me, because they are unsure how I will react.
I like that shell ,of first line defense.
