It seems to me that VAX/VMS was very popular in factory automation. Don't know what the story is now, but many many companies keep old stuff until it dies, if it works. And it is generally hard to find peopleto keep it running. He needs to network hard.

I had a friend here in NJ tell me yesterday that his company (ITT) was shutting down their last VAX/VMS machine since they built an emulator to run VMS stuff on Windows Servers....very nostalgic, didn;t know VAXs were still out there, and didn;t know ITT was still out there! So, he asks me, he being a VMS guy, what I thought the market was like for him. I said go back into church right now and start praying.
