Default UPS #8 in Reading

The Top Fuel dragster of Bob Vandergriff qualifies again in the top half of the 16-car field in a spot he has seen many times this season, #8. Bob ran a 4.56, which would have qualified him in a better spot last week, but, this weeks field was much quicker. He will face J.R. Todd in the first round, an opponent that seems to be shaping up to be his nemesis. J.R. had secured a spot in the Chase to the Championship much earlier than Bob had and has faced him many times already.

Round #1 will also be critical for Whit Bazemore. He will face #1 Rod Fuller. Baze needs this, the last race before the door is closed on the qualifying spots in the Chase, to secure one of the last slots.

Bob's making some good noise for UPS this yr.

Well, it's not to be this w/e. Bob loses on a great 4.54, his best of the w/e but is denied his first Wally by Todd's winning ride. At least he's squarely in the Countdown.

Bob to race a Special 100th anniversary car at the Big Go this weekend.

Big Go is old school slang for Indy for you newbees!

Lots of coverage this weekend on ESPN and even racing on Monday. Now if we just had enough fuel cars to have 32 car fields like we had back in the day.
