Default new career path

I have been a self employed driver in the KC metro for 8 years. Recent medical issues in my family have made UPS an attractive career path. A few questions. In KC the larger hubs are located in Kansas(Lenexa and Kemper area)and I have a Missouri Class A. The online inquiry states you must have a valid drivers license from "this state". Is this a concrete rule and if not how do you let the reviewers of your online app know this? My local driver tells me health insurance for full time is through the union and part time is not. Can anyone explain the differences? How long after employment are benefits(health insurance) available? What happens to these benefits if you are laid off?

TIA for any and all responses.
I also have a withdrawl card from my local teamsters(Missouri)
