Default Failed Keter Audit

My center recently had a Keter audit. Apparently, the hub and both centers failed miserably.

What are the ramifications of failing a Keter audit? Does it mean I will get some new supervisors and center manager come January?
That could be a nice perk!

You can obviously expect more safety and threats to be crammed down your throats.

We always fail, because UPS does not practice what they preach. They wait until the day before the audit to "fix" any problems in the building, they wait until the day before the audit to get all the paper work up to date and to make sure everybody knows the procedures. You can't learn something in a day if it should have been taught to you all year long and more frequently..All they are worried about is getting those pkgs from the trailers to the slides to the belts to the trucks and to the customer in as little time as possible!!

We are in the middle of a Keter Audit right now. It was amazing how the Preload went down on time Friday morning. Why they are doing this during Peak amazes me. They should never announce ahead of time when they will audit, just show up and surprise everyone!!!

If that were the case, we'd tank the thing on purpose

I was in the office when a center OMS got the phone call. Seems my center found out about it only 4 hours in advance. It was actually quite amusing to watch the reactions of all the supervisors. I believe the popular phrases used were "oh SugarHoneyIceTea" and "we're screwed" . Classic...

Where I work, we passed. What a sigh of relief, thank to the efforts of the ENTIRE crew (even though there was a minor booboo).

I'm talking about the threats of not taking safety seriously. Of not completing the stupid safety books. Or learning the 10 point, lifting, slips and falls and 5 seeing habits for Ketter.

Of course we fail the keter audit. What do we expect when we do things by the book only a couple days a year when keter is in the buildings. If ups is serious about safety then they should practice it all day everyday! Ths way it would be done with little or no effort when keter shows up but that does not make business sense now does it. Like scratch said i would love to see keter show up without a days notice and see how we operate every day when they are not on property. Lets not forget who owns keter.

Right now we have a huge safety problem, in order to get gas we have to back into the gas pumps to fill up everyday. Now we are talking about 400 plus routes going out everyday. Our gas pumps are being blocked by personal cars because of the overflow of extra hires so ups are having employees park within the gates in front of the pumps. I have addressed this issue with the district safety manager, building manager and feeder manager and i was told its peak! This week we have a group of drivers that are refusing to back in to get gas and we will run out of gas on route unless they give us gas cards! Its funny this company preaches safety, how would they like to go to some families house and explain to them that their father died when he backed into a gas pump. If corporate is reading this im talking about the palatine building in north ill. Time for you to step up and show us your serious about safety! If not i will be calling whoever i can osha etc on this issue!

It sounds like that is a phone call that should have been placed a while ago. Please make that call before one of your co-workers gets hurt.

Keter audits are really designed to get the buildings ready just in case a real government audit walks in the door. If the company was really serious about staying ready for an audit, they would assign someone to have full-time duty of only that. I don't see the company ever doing that, with the way they choke on every penny they have to spend.

Ah, the Keter audit. The one time per year where we get to watch the management squirm and look over their shoulders. The paint brushes always come out the week of an audit and the cleaning crew has to work double time. I enjoy watching the shoe on the other foot once in a while.

The total responsibility for safety is your Human Resources Department Manager who reports to the District Manger. If you're not getting the support you need, please feel free to do the following:

Ask to meet your Safety Specialist, Safety Supervisor, Safety and Compliance Manager. They are all assigned as full time management to assist the centers regarding safety and working with the centers to be ready for Ketter audits.

They also have the responsibility to attend safety meetings, conduct safety rides and other safety related issues for your center.

I don't think this is one area where UPS is cutting costs.

I noticed alot of people tonight walking in the yard paying close attention to the gas pumps. It was a little better but i still saw drivers 3 pt turning to get into the pumps, which is still unsafe. Corporate why dont you look at the proposal which was put out by our safety committee in order to provide us with a safe pathway to the pumps, which was turned down by the region because it cost money!

We have plenty of property that is grassed that we could black top to provide parking for the tractors, trailers and even the peak over flow of cars. You should have seen this coming when you closed the crystal lake barn and transferred all of those routes from the waukegan building here.

I have a great idea leave a double row of tractor spots open, paint a yellow rectangle from the first row through the third row 2 wide so that we can drive straight through to make a left into the pumps with no obstacles to manuever around, this shouldnt have a major cost to it. But if it does i will flip for the paint if it ensures that i wont be attending a fellow drivers funeral.

The vests are pretty stupid considering the little reflective strip that is on our uniforms.
