I think the wait varies, depending on where you are. Our buiding is so small that the only full time positions, besides mgmt, is to be a driver. |

Was a huge gamble for me, because I was a home owner and wanted a career change. I was making good money as a manager at a locat grocery chain. However, after 9 years I was unhappy with my career. |

Not sure how it works now but back then you had to work 30 days within the first 90 days. After that you were full time. It did take me awhile to get on however......... about three years. My next door neighbor was the C/M's uncle. I badgered him every time I saw him and made numerous trips to the center before they finally hired me. |

I started Saturday air driving after 1 1/2 years and became a cover driver at 2 1/2 years. This is my 4th peak as a cover. The wait for full-time driver in our building is over 9 years. We have over 300 routes during the regular season and over 400 during peak. We have hundreds of in-building and combo full-time jobs in our hub. I think that after the new contract and reformed pension plan go into effect, we'll see over 30 feeder drivers retire as well as many drivers. They are just waiting for the pension and they are out. That'll move me up the ladder but I'm not sure if I'll get to full-time status next year. I'm hoping with my fingers and toes crossed. |

It bothers me a little that there are guys higher up in seniority than me as drivers even though I have been here 2 years longer than them in total seniority, only because of my age. At 32, I am number 41 +/- in my center, but if I hadn't had to wait I would be probably around 30 +/-. Sucks. |

started when i was 19 on the twilight shift was there for 2 and a half years then when full time.
1st 2 weeks as a driver i was sent back into the hub (how depressing).
then i worked 2 weeks, and they sent me back in the hub for a week( which was just a week off as i never went in.
smooth sailing after that. i think it took me maybe 40 days to work 30 days. | | |
