I am the "soninlawofupser". I promised this person, who was an emplyoee for 35+ years, that I would watch over his family when he was gone. Now the spouse wants to remarry and UPS will drop all pension/medical coverage upon this remarriage (sp?). Is this fare? Would they have dropped the employees coverage if he had divorced and remarried. Obviously not.

Is there anyone out there that is facing similar challenges?

That's the deal...part of the game lots of folks don;t like, but that's all there is. If the divorced spouse did remarry, their coverage would cease as well though.

soninlaw - yes, if the employee had divorced and remarried his new wife would not be eligible for his healthcare nor his pension. You do not get to make changes after you retire.
