We were slightly below the projected numbers for peak but here it is January and the stuff is still coming... |

Everyone was overdispatched, It felt like Xmas all over again
I did a residential split route with 186 stops
I came in at 610 pm and was the first one back
They asked me to help people but I told them I did enough stops already |

Could all of that extra work come from that train derailment we had before christmas
Seems like a big difference in time but I dont remember that many xmas packages being delivered after the holidays until yesterday |

Saw the sign-up sheet here to recall all willing driver helpers. Word was they think more business than normal worked New Years Eve, so two days worth of volume in one. Time will tell real soon, so much for their technology, did they stop asking pick-up accounts if they would be working certain holidays? | |

We had about 15k (about 20%) more volume than normal, and all the seasonal hires are gone so we were shut off about 1/3 of the time so the load lines could play catch up... |

Someone is going to be fired over that one... I am always bitching about the flow and just stack it out... Then the guy at the end gets hit with all the missed work... So when all this happens and packages are all stacked out down the line... EGRESS ISSUES... Someone on the belt pushes the shtop button... Supes come up "why is the belt off..." Of course no one knows who shut it off and the supes can not walk throug because of EGRESS blocked... So we start cleaning up...
Then the Center Manager strolls up asking what the problem is and we tell him the flow is too heavy and he goes into his speal about we are only at 60% and should be able to do more... Then I point at the three foot stack of packages that are unsplit and half unSPA'd hitting us like a Tsunami... Never mind the over 70s crushing the smalls..

Rep Power: 1489 | Re: Peak is here? I was on vacation this past week..however I did run into a few drivers yesterday (Thursday)...they both indicated that the volume was extremely heavy...which caused excessive AM time, which caused late air deliveries, probably several drivers over 11 hrs.
Glad to see that the 2nd 100 years are starting off so well

Time will tell real soon, so much for their technology, did they stop asking pick-up accounts if they would be working certain holidays? | We have been buried also the last two days. Thursday morning the power went out in the Hub, Midnight Sort did not finish and Preload started a couple of hours late. No generator in our building, although UPS SCS down the street has one. Today, we got out of the building at 9:45, an hour late. Drivers had to pull with NDA still coming down the belt. They were asking for volunteers to work Saturday to deliver the missed air. We had some Preloaders go out to work as Helpers, we were told not to work them past 5:30 PM. I don't know what is going on, I heard that the P'Dale Hub rolled over 70 loads, although that could be an inaccurate count. My Stop Forecast today was 200 stops, 70 over my normal amount. I ran my Peak Trace today, the extra Split Cars were put in, luckily I was dispatched with only 150. I don't know what is going on, if it is stuff thawing out from somewhere else, shippers working an extra day, or a lot of after Christmas discount sales. I saw a lot of QVC, Melaluaca, and Nutrisystem boxes today. |

Rep Power: 595 | Re: Peak is here? Today (Friday) was a peak day for us without the helpers at P-Dale. I left with 180 stops. Non-peak, I usually run around 130 with my 21 pickups (that blow out my truck). Some guys left with almost 300 stops. The hub was trying to get preloaders to run with us as helpers. I got one but she stood me up at our meet point. I'll be chatting with her Monday AM.
We are expected to be even heavier Monday as many loads got passed down to daysort. Seems just like peak without the help of split routes and helpers. |

Rep Power: 1390 | Re: Peak is here? According to some of the other supervisors in various centers throughout my division, the entire Ga District got slammed as a whole. Everyone seems to be blaming it on P'dale. Way to go Jack!!! I had about 45 more stops than I normally do during non peak season. Left the building an hour late. Drove in all kinds of circles to get my business stops off, since I have a lot of bus/resos mixed in together. Had to get my bulk p/u covered since I was going to be in late. Clocked out with exactly 12 hours. Not enough volunteers to work tomorrow, so based on seniority, I'll be doing it all again tomorrow! Hooray me! |

W, T, F just like another day of peak. Punch out at 10.5 or later, get home at 9pm or later. Working for UPS is like having Christmas all yr, without the tips, and food at customer places. Pack a lunch friends, 2 words, GIFT CARDS, I expect it will continue til they are all spent, and then Chrismtas in July will start. |
