I'd go with B... but that's just me.

Or perhaps consider this alternate method:

Is this because you don't have the necessary education to get the "taper" job? If it is ask you're supervisor if you can be an apprentice "taper".

They don't give any notice if they fire or suspend you, so don't worry about it. If they treated you crappy, come in in the morning and say "Screw it! You take it out!"

kenmei, I think you should look in to getting your 4 yr degree in Engineering so that you can secure the re-wrapping position. From what I have seen in your posts, it is quite obvious that your grasp of the English language and your superb grammar, spelling, use of punctuation and ability to form complete sentences should lend themselves nicely to you enrolling in the college of your choice.

Seriously, I am fairly certain that, if you quit today, they would have forgotten about you by tomorrow. Best of luck at McDonald's!!

if your a preloader you should go in and load your trucks , make sure to misload atleast 40 packages, and when you punch out for the day, just minutes before the drivers leave, tell your sup that this job and he are both "*&%$%*^" and then say out loud " I hope I didn't misload any today!" Pay backs...

it is just a fantasy... i would never do this.

Give the 2 week notice. Don't burn bridges. The grass may not be greener. Enough cliches.

What would do if you won the powerball? Would you just not come in the next day or would you really hurt them? Like going to work like a normal day then going home and calling them at about 8pm and telling you didn't feel like working and that you didn't make any stops or pick ups. Then come in the next day like nothing happened. One can only dream!

Drivers may have ethics, but few in management do. I wouldn't take it out all day and do nothing because it would hurt the customers more than them. Of course, sitting out in the yard until all the other drivers left and then coming in and telling them to get their browns on would still get the customers their pkgs eventually.

Think I would give them two week notice if you plan on working somewhere else that wants a resume or to contact your last employer. But on my last day I have always dreamed of leaving the building and going to the nearest pub. Drink beer until about 3 pm and calling them up and tell them they better come and get the truck and call yourself a cab.

I've been thinking about my final weeks of work lately. LORD willing, I have about 4 years left. In those last weeks will I:

A) Call in sick at the last moment quite frequently
B) No call, no show a couple days
C) Tell the company my retirement date is July 10th, but change my mind on the 2nd and tell 'em my last day WAS the 1st.
D) All the above
E) Stay cool, go out with dignity

It all depends on how I'm treated between now & then, but if the DM doesn't liten up my choice will be 'D'.

Yeah, that payback would feel pretty good, I can't deny it.

I worked for UPS here in Denver for about 10 months after about 15 months in Illinois a couple years ago. When I quit in Denver, I worked my entire two week notice--no lates or no-shows--and utmost professionalism. My last day, I reported as normal and right as the belts started my part-time supe came up and said, "Hey, you wanna unload today?" I connected the dots after I'd started unloading (possible missorts galore). I told him, "You make a radio call to get Bozo the Dumba%# off my back for the day and I'll do it. I mean it....not a peep from him." The supe nodded, reached for his radio, called the full-timer over and told me, "I'll make it happen. He won't be on my sort-aisle today." I won't soon forget how restful that night's sleep was.... -Rocky

Default Re: if u want to quit the ups?

Just put in a notice and don't a piece of random quitter. They took a chance and give you the job, be curtious and let them have a bit of time to find a replacement.

LOL, poetic justice would be you finding out kimm is either the guy loading your car or the guy who has the route next to you.

Believe me, I had to deal with them suspending, firing, or crosstraining my preloader and getting some rookie at the last minute. So it would bother me less having to deal with a rookie loader and laughing about what my loader did to get them back. I might be aggravated, but it's part of the job. You just have to go with the flow.
Besides, I have seen them fire or suspend a guy when it suits them. If they had the extra people, the suspension was immediate. If they didn't, "well, we'll suspend you next week."
