But unless you are young and only plan to use this position as resume addition, then why would you want to become a P/T sup.?
IMHO that rates as the lowest job anywhere within ups.
Over time you will realize that you are being paid less than you currently get now; why because of all the extra time you have to put in ( for free ). |

| Re: how long does this entire process usually take ? The letter of intent is on file the whole year (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31) You then take the test and interviews happen as possitions need to be filled. If your sup was pushing you to put in a letter then they may have a position opening soon. They may not have any canidates, you may be the only one, therefore it may not take long.
You will probably be working more than 5 hours...I used to have to deliver packages left in the building for another 2 to 4 hours. You may have to cover in other centers or other shifts and maybe even double shift. If you ever want togo driving (making some decent money) it may be nearly impossible.

I mean money is the major factor in this decision now I'm not sure longterm wise how long ill be there but another sup on another boxline put in his papers to drive and he should be starting sometime soon ...so when should I expect to take the test and everything else ?I just really want to start it asap... |

-what happened to the guy I am replacing?;
-why can't I get any info from my supe or other PT supes?;
-why do the majority of posters on this board say, "don't do it"?;
-what are the "unknowns" of being a PT supe that I haven't explored? and;
-will this conflict with my school when I am forced to work OT or run late air or "left in building" out to the drivers? |

| Re: how long does this entire process usually take ? I'm not sure what happened or if anything did to any other supe ....I may not even be in this part of the building... my preload supe is really only in control of 3 boxlines pretty much so I don't know... I just can't stand these lousy 200 dollar checks ...it just aint worth compared to what I see a supe do all day which pales in work comparison to a loader I have seen them work days start to finish just overseeing the boxline and lending a hand here and there...nothin much from 4 to 9... |

Starting pay will be $2250? That is 2.5 times the $200 figure you gave. That seems a bit high.

I would guess you would start at about 1250 to 1400. Not much higher... With a promise of a possible first raise in 6 months instead of 12.

If you make 9 bux an hour you will start at a lower rate than someone making 15 bux an hour. You will probably get 30-40% more to start.
