For those who became employed with UPS for the purpose of eventually becomming a FT driver, how long did it take you to get that position?
Any tips? (I was going to say "shortcuts" but that is just not the right word.)
Been there a week myself, starting Saturday delivery at two weeks. Passed ALL online ( UPS Intranet) tests in my first week. |

Hubs in growing areas usually have a shorter wait time as well as rural hubs. Stagnant areas or large urban hubs usually have a long wait. I'm at one of those hubs. I've been a cover driver for 4 years and started Saturday air over 5 years ago. |

You have to determine if it is worth the wait. I knew I had an 8 year wait ahead of me, but I knew this is what I wanted to do. As a female, there are not too many blue-collar jobs that pay these type wages. Plus, I am a fool for men in uniforms. And every morning, I get to see a ton of guys in uniforms. I guess you might call this an "unpaid benefit." |

Depends on the growth in your area and how many drivers are near retirement. |

There is SO much variance in area's that you will not get any answer that will give you a true idea as to your location. |

Depends on the growth in your area and how many drivers are near retirement. | Same scenario where I am.
Although I've had different people make comments to me that the wait wouldn't be even that long because I'm already on the road.
Personally, I like driving just one day. I think one of the misconceptions that people have is that FT driving is cake. Honestly..I don't see how some of them do it...lol. |

Where I was, was 6 months, preload to driver school.
But where I was training was a 3-4 year wait
and they had 8 centers under one roof.. |
