It actually answers the question perfectly, read the post, watch the videos and you'll see. The 500 posts from Red, and BM15? I do believe UPS was called the "evil brown empire" in one of their posts. As for the second quote that would be a 1989 original, please no plagiarism, we all know the union hasnt had an original thought in years!

Well, see? Now we're getting somewhere - truth thru sarcasm works for me.

I look at the whole Union against UPS, UPS against Union rhetoric is a waste of time; It is just like buying a house -

Buyer makes insulting offer, seller spits on offer, insults buyer, buyer orders inspections for plutonium gas out of spite, seller blows nose on offer, and a month later they settle on 5% under the asking price. All RE deals ALWAYS end settling at 5% under asking price. So why not save time, both compromise, and do that from the beginning?

So then you are saying the 500 posts from Red and BM15 support Jim Casey's position that "it was possible to be a good employee and a good union member at the same time"? How exactly does "evil brown empire" play into this?

And what about the second quote Drewed?? If it is a 1989 original...well that means up until now it hasn't been said. Ummmmmm....yeah.

Default Re: Strike in Chicago?

Today both sides meet again and the union had a guest. Marty frates the chairman of norcal sat in on negotiations today and pledged support to back teamster brothers and sisters from chicago if this cant get settled without a work stoppage.

I wish i had better news but it seems like ups is working backwards. Towards the end of the day ups gave another proposal. Up to this point that had been some tentative agreements on some language. In the proposals ups countered different language for alot that had been agreed upon already. Since ups did not take the time to explain and only exchanged papers they were gone when we noticed this. So either ups is overwhelmed that marty showed up and propsed old proposals by accident or they have re-opened the whole contract and tuesday we will start over as day 1 of the talks with nothing being agreed to. Tuesday and thursday are the only days left and now the whole contract must be addressed by midnight thursday.

This thread is to discuss contract talks not to bicker back and forth. The bickering is getting old and theres only 1 week left which means the bickering will get worse.

So drewed add something to the talks as a man that we can debate over or just dont respond.

We all have good jobs cause we all work hard.
Just my two cents.
To the part time sup, 20 yrs ago I applied to a company who I thought was good to
work for, w/ good pay BECAUSE of a union. Because i was young and naive about
companys as ups, I didn`t realize how bad they would stab you in the back and lie to
your face. Ups is what it is because we are teamsters, if you think people would come
to work at ups for half the wages and benefits, this company will sink faster than the
titanic! I for one do NOT want to strike but if this Co. tries to bully us even through
a contract, then I will support,(as my other union bros. will) a strike to make changes
for a better life!

If you go to the website under union proposal it will have "ta'd" and the date next to it. Im sure hoping the company will stick by their ta's because the proposal even had "shalls" back to "wills" which that alone took about a week. There is alot still to get to and unless ups agrees to stop passing proposals and start talking to find middle ground on tuesday it does not look good. Especially if the whole contract must be addressed again. Running out of time.

Marty Frates died 10 years ago. someone forgot to tell him. Your support will come if the national allows it. Enjoy the next week this soap opera is almost done.

Thats the reaction you expect to see from management when you speak a name of someone that doesnt back down from ups. Marty hand you your butt on a plate before?

We already have support openly from 5 locals to extend strike lines. I wouldnt be shipping any nda's next thursday, wink, wink.

It is like a day time soap opera. You learn the characters and tune in three weeks later and they are in the same room having the same conversation.
The words spoken mean little. The personal drama is the key.

But at the same time, both sides are saying things we all know to be true. I think that is what intrigues me more than the drama. Yeah they attack each other, but there are some irrefutable points that both arguments have. Intrinsically, these points do not have counter-arguments, nor do they get refuted (because of that). Personally, I like seeing how these specific elements play-out in reality. In this case, it will be the contract that is agreed to that settles this for me (assuming there is a contract that is agreed to).

Red,

honestly. Marty is done. Its great that he is grasping on straws and still trying to revive himself but if he is all you got then you got nothing. Soap opera ends in five days and you go back to preaching how your union beat the company into submission to get what you want.

Realistically your union should not reveal negotiation details until all is settled. It takes a lot of pressure of of your negotiators so you guys dont have to grandstand like you have been.
