And these are just the ones we know about.........
How many more is it gonna take before people realize what's going on?
I would post what I hope happens to the management folks responsible for this but it might offend the "wine and roses" crowd.
You might seek the advice of an attorney (the union damn sure isn't gonna help you here)
Remeber the good times you had with your husband. Sometimes memories are the only thing we can rely on.
I think Jim Casey said, "people are the company's greatest asset". | Trick I understand your point but I'm not sure this is the time and way to make that point. Ma'am I'm sorry to see your loss but I am ( I hope to I use the right words) happy to see you celebrate his life. I apologize If I distract the thread but I would like to share a little story to explain what I mean. I knew a great upser who was as brown blooded as they come and a credit to upsers in the ups family every where. He was a hard worker in everything he did with a lot of that time in package. At one point he had bid back into our hub. He was standing on the rear of a trailer when a shifter mistakenly pulled the trailer off the door with him standing on the end of it. He ended up falling out of the trailer and breaking his hip. End result he was never the same afterwards and walked with a limp. the company and union got together and created a special job for him in the feeder carwash where he finished up his years at UPS. Even there in an easier job he was still a hard worker who took care of things we needed beyond his normal responsibilities. My father always told me that no matter what you do in life even if you are a ditch digger be the best ditch digger you can be. This guy lived that example for me. Back in the late 90's he was lucky enough to invest in some ocean property that over the years appreciated rapidly and made him a millionaire. When he retired last year we took him out to lunch and wished him well thinking he was all set up to have a great retirement. Unfortunately he took his life about four months later. The mental depression that caused him to do so is every bit a real disease just as any of the more common physical diseases we see. I went to his funeral and was upset to see his wife give him the quickie I am embarassed he took his life lets get it done funeral. I don't know if I cried more for the loss of his life or for the way he was short changed on his departure. I have personally seen how mental depression can affect family members and recognize the condition for being the devastating disease it can be. I am therefore very appreciative that you have taken the time to share his memory with us. I can't explain what happened with his job at UPS and I would never for a minute even think to defend it. I can only say I am sincerely sorry that it happened and I have spent a career trying to clean up some of the bad attitudes and hard feelings that others in my profession have created over the years. This does not mean that I am a saint in any way and I know that I have made my mistakes but I do try to do some soul searching and learn from them. Jim Caseys philosophy on how you treat your people has been a higher plane I have tried to reach and admitedly failed to reach on any kind of consistent basis.I am sincerely so sorry that this has happened to you in your life and wish there is some way we could have done better for him and for you. I apologize if I have in any way distracted this thread. May god bless you and keep you strong through these trying times. WWDS

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
Psalm 9 : 9
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
John 16 : 33
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14 : 27

There are time limits on making claims for life insurance (there is on mine). It's something Mrs Barnett or a family member should be looking into real soon.

that was a wonderful post. thank you. i think i needed that as much as she. again, thank you!
Janice
if i came off a bit hard in the earlier post, please forgive me. it is the big brother instinct that i seem to have regarding those that have a serious crisis in their lives.
all the "off base" remarks regarding life insurance etc were some you will have to face before and after the funeral. take the life insurance. unless he had pre planned his funeral, that leaves you with the task. and paying for it is part of that task. most if not all funeral homes will take an assignment from the life insurance so the family does not have to fork out serious money at the time they can afford it least. that is where the clauses in your insurance come into play.
as for the rest, that can wait until after you put your best friend and husband to rest. we can help if needed. we will be here for as long as you want us to be.
sorry that i can not physically offer my broad shoulders to you, i guess the internet version will have to do.
daniel

He may have had a customer complaint, but then they followed him. If you know about the customer complaint then you know the relationship between Jim and ******. ****** did not like Jim and they constantly had words. No Jim was not perfect but he did not deserve what happened to him that day or the harrashment he received over the years.

I know a little more about what happened than most people on the board could unless they work in the area. I can say that the way in which your husband was approached afterwards could have been handled much better.
