Rep Power: 0 | Employee parking lot 'dings' My new-ish car has received 2 'dings' in 2 days..first one on the passenger door,a good gash about 3 inches long...hhmm..
Then today, someone backed into the car,and put a pretty good scrape/dent/imprint on the front bumper...
Dragged my supervisor out both times...made sure he is aware...appt with insurance company next week just to see if worth to repair these "hit and runs"...is this just a coincidence??..or coinci-'dents'??..
I took pics, and will be pre/post tripping my car everyday from now on...
My supe even asked if I thought maybe my car was being sabotaged..
I hate to think of my fellow employees are even capable of such things..we are a very small centre..25-30 people...I try and look out for the drivers, help them..stick up for them...etc...
Evil is everywhere I know...is it in the hearts of my fellow workers??..I sure hope not..I like them...even socialize with some of them..should I watch for any certain behavior that may hint at the evil-doer?? |

It can happen. |

This is a terrible thing to think that maybe somebody wants me gone...their coffee supply will vanish too..along with the semi-annual"fruit-thing",(cut fruit and pastries that I spend 4 hours preparing)..on my own time no less..
I will look at all 'bumperettes" tomorrow...as the imprint in the front bumper is very distinctive.. |

Your parking lot should be big enough that you could park your car in the back, or on a diagonal like all the Range Rovers, 'Vettes and Prosches do at our lot. Also, you might want to find a "buddy" that would park next to you all the time. Sorry you are going through this. |

We have cameras in ours. I doubt you could make out a plate, but you might be able to recognize the car.

Rep Power: 10009 | Re: Employee parking lot 'dings' If you guys work at a large center or hub, these options won't be available to you. My center is small and there are more parking spaces than cars. We have about 30 extra spots available even with preload/drivers and drivers/local sort working at the same time.
Parking diagonally is not an issue either since we have these extra spaces available. There are advantages to working in a small center and parking apparently is one. I never, ever have thought that parking would be a problem at UPS. Goes to show you.
And cameras and guard shacks are issues for you big city folk. Let's hear it for small centers with small problems! |

If you parked your package truck to close to where you were going to eat lunch, or to close to a drive way, or break a mirror because of a pine tree, you would get terminated. But when it is your private property and someone else hits your car they look the other way...... I saw a FT sales guy hit an employees car, he backed out and parked on the other side of the lot and didn't say anything about it. I told the security people and nothing was done.... Nice to know that they have your back....
One last thing, I would let mgnt know what is going on and if nothing is done I would ask every driver and every part time employee if they saw anything. If you make enough stink maybe that will stop it..... |

I could not pin point why, I finally had the evidence on my hood, there is a walnut tree above and it was coming from there. All the other years when I drove my Expedition, or my Ram Air TA they both have fiber glass hoods is why I never saw it. So I show my manager and I am told there nothing tey can do, I have to report it to my insurance. |

They sure aren't going to take responsibility for a walnut tree.

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Employee parking lot 'dings' Thank -you all for your stories. I am not a "scab"..if you drivers went on strike,I would have to quit. Because, I would not cross that line for one. It would be too many hours and no pay for two..
We have only 24 spots and 27 drivers, and 10 preloaders, who only park for 3 hours in the morning, why no one is doing anything about the preloaders "temporary" parking is unknown. The centre manager seems to forget everything. Nice guy,but mighty forgetful..
We also share the parking lot with a cold storage/freight forwarder. It's either a fellow employee,or an employee from the other company across the parking lot,or most likely..a customer.
I went in early today. Cased that parking lot up and down..took pictures of all the trailer hitches,as that is the imprint left in my bumper. Measured the dent, measured the trailer hitches etc..and of course, examined them all very well. There are no Porches,Lamborghinis, etc in our lot. A few junkers,I just got rid of mine. A 30 year old car starts to break down more and more..and like a previous poster said, when I filled up with gas,it more than doubled the value of the car. I GAVE that car away to a local demo derby driver.
Anyways, back to the manner at hand. To give you south of the border UPSer's a geography lesson...there is an Island off the west coast of North America. And there is only one centre on that whole island...I'll let you try to guess what it's called. You cannot see it from the mainland, but you can see it's mountain ranges...
There are no security cameras,...anywhere...I had a customer follow me into the building once and physically threaten me,and calling me names, and then yelled at me, "I hope you get cancer"..I tried to ignore his hurtful remarks. I AM A CANCER SURVIVOR...imagine how that felt..
I worked at Fedex for 8 years, never was I treated with such disrespect as I have been at UPS,by customers, by some management,..the drivers and I get along great..one of the guys told me that last night. He said I have been the best thing that has happened to all of them, and a few of them confirmed that this morning.
I will go thru the motions of the local car insurance thing, then go to a auto body shop after. But I will have to pay,to have these dents fixed. I wasn't even in the car when it happened. That is the unfair part.
One of the guys did manage to get his truck fixed becuz a fellow employee hit and ran with one of the pkg cars(what a quaint term)..but he HOUNDED the supervisor over this..but,he got it fixed on UPS' dollar..the other employee never admitted he did it,but the marks on both vehicles matched in the crucial spots.
I will be patrolling that lot everyday now. I am going to get the print out for what customers where that day,as there is a program available that tracks all that stuff.
Stay tuned.......... |
