Sure the hell not the French ... they don't have the wealth to purchase what they produce which isn't that much.
Atlas shrugged.

It's the the product of global economics. And, in my opinion, that's not a good thing. Nobody wants to pay anything to produce their product....yet they expect those same employees to be able to afford them. DUH!!

Once you enrol in the new plan you can not go back to the traditional plan. I would wait and see how others like or dislike it after a year or two go by.
UPS wil always let you change to the new plan but you will not be able to switch back. Haste makes waste. Why won't they let you switch back if you don't like the new package?
My mother works in the health care claims/billing industry. She has told me horror stories about the PCN PPN PPO plans. She said she had a claim denial for a man who cut the tip of his finger off and went to the ER for treatment. The plan said this was not an emergency and denied coverage claiming that he could have went to a network doctor. He had to pay the whole bill. What the what?
Hopefully the union will get on the ball and tell us the pros and cons or TDU or anybody with knowledge of the issues. God only knows UPS will only tell us the pros.
I'd wait |
Got more info from ups on saturday. As usual the info is strewn with half truths, lies and misinterpretations.
When I received a bill from the ER for my sons care this summer; the statement showed the hospital bill to be $600 insurance would cover $218 and my portion was 0. The new info ups sent out makes it look like if i stayed with the current plan that I would have to pay the difference. This is not the case and never has been.
It also shows retiree health care lifetime limits in a deceiving manner. It shows $150,000 per calender year for the current plan and $500,000 for the new plan. That amount is the most you could get. Take the 150,000 and multipy it by 8 years(if you retire at 57 and you get the truth.
The old plan would cover retirees for up to 1,200.000.00 where the new plan only $500,000
I'm sure we all have an extra $700,000 laying around.
We need the truth.
We can handle the truth.

It is possible to check the networks to see if you doctor/dentist is a member. I checked, and mine are indeed enrolled in the networks.
I still need a lot more information before I would feel comfortable switching... | I will check, I dont have a doc personally, Ive been blessed, knock on wood. I see a doc about as often as my palm reader, never. but I dont want my husband to switch, hes comfortable with them, which took some work Quote:

I could probably switch and not notice a difference, but if its worked well for me so far why change? | I do know with what I had, a 80k hospital and surgery cost me much less than the 16 k I thought I would owe. So I will have to look it through. If I were in your shoes Brett, I would stay and see how it all shakes out with others you know who change, as there is no going back Quote:

I am thinking UPS got a chance to save on our pkg, and the more who sign up, the better for them, and I have no problem with them saving money offering us a quality pkg, I just need to study it more.

Rep Power: 212 | Re: New UPS Health and Welfare Package in DISPATCH - Union We had a meeting at our union hall this last weekend. The UPS rep kept refering to our current plan as the sick plan and the new one as the wellness plan. They also were trying to scare people into it by infering that we may not be able to enrol next year.
Jokers with scare tactics and false bravado.
To their credit; ups rep did say that they would not offer this plan if it did not save the company alot of $.
They did not have the figure on how much $ this would save them per employee. I find it very interesting that there is not report on this; really??
UPS doesn't know when they know if it took me 8 seconds to move my pkg car, or my license is set to expire next week, or my dot pys is up or my pu compliance is off, |

After all, union members can always get healthcare through the gov't if the unions bargain it away...right??? Glad I left this company! |
