So I'm wondering, could it be a basic package that was delivered to the post office? But then it's kinda stupid for UPS to send me a text saying it was delivered, right?
I've never delivered Basics to a post office. Is there more than one barcode? Could the driver have scanned the wrong barcode causing UPS to send the "delivered" text? | See thread about "ups manager steals parcel containing marijuana" . Might explain what happened to your package

It is outsourcing anyway you look at it. It is also giving our service level a bad name someone sees something is shipped by UPS Basic and the it takes 4-5 for UPS to deliver it and then 1 or 2 days for the post office to deliver it is just ridiculous especially when the driver is probably going to be near those addresses getting basic packages at some point during the day. |

But I still think it's downright stupid for UPS to text "delivered" messages to the customer when we leave it at a P.O.

I won't DR pkgs even if they are basic or that other form, that eludes the mind right now, if it is an apt or bad area. Mostly apt's, as I have no bad areas on my route. |

I would estimate that on some days nearly 1/3 of my residential deliveries are Basic. | One of our rural PO's have gone from getting 5 or 6 pcs a day to 20 or more a day.

The part that I dislike about Basic on a rural area is that many times you will drive by the address that the pkg is going to so that you can deliver it to the Post Office so that they can process it and deliver it the following day to the address that you just drove by. However, as Jones said, there are 2 barcodes on the pkg and we are required to scan and deliver these to the P.O. There were instances where the consignee would meet me on the road asking for their pkg. Rather than explain it, which they wouldn't understand, I would simply say that I didn't have it, and then deliver it to the P.O. In some of our more rural areas the P.O. have limited hours so it can be a struggle to get some of these delivered. | I have, twice I think, delivered a basic to the customer instead of the post office. To avoid a service failure. Never heard anything about it.

Guess what? NOW it says EXCEPTION for the status.... Hmmmmm, apparently the post office is not to blame.
They CHANGED Fridays status from delivered. It now says "In transit to final destination".
And Saturdays status says "Notice left".
Jeez, talk about falsifying information to cover some mistake! I'm pretty disgusted.

It wasn't an important package, or anything I was in a hurry to get, I'm just annoyed that our tracking system is not as good as I thought it was.
