Default "Trip" or "route"?

When I was a driver up north, I just assumed that the UPS term for delivery route was "trip" because that's what we all called them... Jim's trip, Frank's trip, etc. But down here, everybody uses the term "route" instead. Just wondering if it's a regional thing. What do y'all call them? :confused1

Its always been "route" in Atlanta, as far as Package Drivers. I have heard the Feeder guys use the term "runs", but never "Trip".

It's about half and half here in Philly. Most of the older drivers say "trip" and the newer ones say "route".

Route is the place you go every day

Trip is each time you go out of the building on your route...

once upon a time I was in 4 trucks one day 4 trips.. sure was tough to
put that in the diad...

Here in Edmonton Canada, it's either a "run" or a "route". Trips are what we took in "high" school.

hah, full time transfer.. its a myth I swear.
I had to move for my wifes job, and the new "local"
center had 2 full time positions open.. and I couldn't get diddly...
I even offered to start over at bottom rate.. (still good money)
So I'll bide my time, the local has like 4 guys retiring soon.

What a shame, Fredly. Did your move take you out of the Rocky Mountain District? -Rocky

None of the above. I was a FT driver who moved for purely personal reasons. Tried SOOOO hard to get transferred but that truly is a myth, it just can't be done. So I started back at the bottom but luckily promotions to FT happen quickly here.

Hey, I also worked in the Metro Philly district. Seems like the use of "trip" is unique to that area. We all said it in my bldg, even the newbies.

Thanks to all for your input on this!
