Welcome to BC irish. Always looking for input from a different perspective.
You already have a friend in upssalesguy (see his avatar).
Looking forward to more Blarney.

Hi Irish, western Canada here.
I have celebrated a few St Patrick Days in the past. (green beer and all)
We do have that here.
And awlful haggis (LOL)
Even a parade !
Now, I just get a guiness for that day (even though I can't stand it)... but once a year, it's ok.

Hello Irish, welcome to BC. My father and I went to Ireland in 2007, we went to Ballymoe, in Roscommon County to see the original homestead of Father Flanagan who founded Boys Town in Omaha Nebraska.
It was a great trip, those roundabouts were fun the first day or two especially since I had to get used to driving on the "wrong" side of the road and the car.
We stayed a few days in Bunratty and got to visit Durty Nellys. Here's a link for any bc folks that want to see.
