1 dead after shooting at UPS facility in Whites Creek; no suspect in custody - WKRN

Metro Police are investigating a shooting of an off-duty UPS security guard on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, 21-year-old De'Terrius Smith was shot outside of the UPS facility on Whites Creek Pike. The investigation showed Smith got off work and left the property just after 3 p.m. before returning at 4:21 p.m. A black Nissan Sentra driven by a woman with a man in the passenger seat arrived in the parking lot.

Police said the man from the Sentra got into Smith's car. During the meeting between the two, Smith was shot, and when he exited his car, he soon collapsed nearby.

He said they get out of their way to every morning and they have to go back in a little bit to grab some more freight to come in later than that

I deliver to a big FedEx hub sometimes and the max security compound at the entrance looks like a prison entrance . UPS needs to up its game on security.

Just so happens our UPS store front counter employee is of Indian descent , people get really fired up when they come in and see that..

I was told by another driver that works at whites creek that it was one of their security guards that was shot.
