If there are old decrepits that remember the 93 contract, I think the upcoming contract negotiations may play out the same way. 1993 was Ron Carey's first national contract, if you remember, there was a lot of anticipation and hype about major contract changes, along with a lot of talk about a strike to achieve them, as you know, while the contract had some concrete improvements, it fell well short of expectations. I'm afraid with O'Brien's first, the same thing may happen. Just a theory, hope I'm wrong

If I remember correctly it was almost like UPS dared us to strike with their best and last offer.

The 1993 contract was a 4 year agreement.

The 97 contract went from 1997 to 2002
The next contract went from 2002 to 2008
The contract after that one from 2008 to 2013
The previous contract went from 2013 to 2018
And our current contract went from 2018 until this current year of 2023
Wasn't there a 4 year contract in the 80's? They did used to all be 3 years though

You are correct.

1993 was 4 years
1997 was 5 years
2002 was till 2008 but they agreed to a deal in December 2007 to go until August 2013.

85-88- Three Years
88-91-Three years
91-94- three Years
94-97-Three Years
97-02-five years
02-08 agreement was made to go from December 07- August 13
13-18 __Five Years
19-23 - Five years

The 1982-1985 contract was extended two years for 1986 & 1987, and the union went back to negotiate the 1987-1990 agreement.
