Right now I can retire with a $50,000 a year pension for the rest of my life. Amortization analysis says my pention would cost over a million to purchace.

All my kids had orthodonic work. $25,000 total, no cost to me. My prescriptions cost $9 each...3 kids with allergies the EpiPens alone would have been $600 each, $9 each for me.

My wife had an eye issue. Very good local specialist doctors could not figure it out, we went to the Mayo Clinic in MN and they saved her eyesight...covered by our insurance. That cost us $200 out of pocket for 6 figures worth of medical attention. Not to mention her being able to see.

Fed Ex ground or UPS.... .no question.

Sounds like there won't be much left for OP by the time you get through with them.

Again, I greatly appreciate the responses. I thought they were going to be a lot more mixed than they have been so far. Based on how much I have read with some saying this isn’t a 30 year type job anymore and the obvious stresses of the job.
If you have an opinion please let me know.

It seems foolish to take the UPS job, honestly. You will regret not going mine haul. Working at UPS is the lowest of lows unless you're moving to feeders

35years

Gravy route
7 weeks of paid vacation
$100,000 per year
Paid holidays
Cadillac insurance; dental,optical and ortho
Great pension
401k
Uniforms provided.

Working outside and interacting with the public are important perks. Couldn't stand just working with 7 dwarves in a mine all day.

Everything except a Christmas Turkey.

Lowest of the low....:bored:

RPCD may not be a realistic 30yr job anymore but I think that has more to do with changes to the economy and online sales as a whole. People can order just about anything these days and UPS will ship it. The job and 30 was never intended to include furniture, appliances, tires, car parts etc. The methods help no doubt I just wish I'd found this job sooner. 16yrs to go

Deranged lunatic
If it was not this specific city I would not be pursuing this job
A daily conversation with the homeless disabled registered sex offender, stalling in traffic because of a protest march and soliciting free kombucha is a very good way of breaking up what is otherwise monotonous work.

22.4 is basically a cover driver with an 8 hour guarantee. If there is no driving work available, you can work inside for your FT rate.
There are going to be some very clean hubs clean floors can swept for 8 hours a day. A couple of times in the past they wanted me to go home I stay my 8 hours and did absolutely nothing except for lunch I did lunch. during the day a few supervisors asked me what I was doing and I told him nothing

Probably has been answered before but will help making a decision. With the 22.4 position does progression accrue while you are in that position or does it start over again when you get into feeder or RPCD route?
Example: work 3 years at 22.4 do you automatically go in to 3rd year RPCD or red circled and restart progression?
