Re: A shooting that erupted after an employee's disciplinary hearing left nine people I need to point out the historical fact that American gun owners are the reason that Canada enjoys its peaceful freedom and prosperity. America's civilian gun owners are the ones who overthrew the tyranny of the British Crown during the American Revolution, thereby allowing Canada to develop into the democracy it is today. If it weren't for us, you guys would still be British subjects instead of citizens of a democracy. For that matter, if it weren't for us, you guys would probably be speaking German and your flag would have a swastika instead of a maple leaf. While it is true that thousands of brave Canadians fought and died alongside their Amercian and British allies during WWII, your country lacked the resources or manpower to be a deciding factor in that war. I would also point out that part of the reason for your prosperity is due to the fact that you do not have to spend a huge portion of your GDP to support a military. You share an undefended 3000+ mile border with a military superpower that respects that border and chooses to peacefully coexist and cooperate with you instead of simply taking your significant natural resources by force. Do you think that your history would be the same if you shared that border with Russia? Or China? The USA is far from perfect, but you would do well to remember that the territorial integrity of your country is not guranteed by you, it is guranteed by us.
