Re: A shooting that erupted after an employee's disciplinary hearing left nine people Of the Allied troops involved in the Normandy landings, 73,000 of them were Americans, 61,715 were British, and 21,400 were Canadian. Totoal casualties; 6603 American, 2700 British, 946 Canadian. So for you to state that the USA "finally offered some help" in the invasion is both ignorant and ridiculous. I would also point out that Britain was not only at war with Germany, she was also at war with Japan. And by 1942, Britain was all but defeated in the Pacific and on the verge of losing India and Australia. The war against Japan was waged almost entirely by American troops until 1945, which allowed the UK to concentrate its remaining forces in the European theater. Another country you need to thank is Russia. The only reason the Allied invasion at Normandy succeeded is because the majority of German military strength was concentrated on the Eastern front. Had the Germans been able to knock Russia out of the war in 1941, they would have been able to devote enough resources in France to make the Allied invasion impossible.
