I interviewed last month for the seasonal driver position Individual in HR who I interviewed with strongly advised against doing it when I told her i was a fedex driver.Said she never recommends anyone take the position who is currently employed. Way too many variables and really a long shot to catch on permanent. She said you could do a great job and if there is no spot open there is nothing I can do for you. I tried as best possible to explain the dire situation at Express too her and she was oblivious and knew nothing about it. Thought it was still a great company to work for. The way it works at UPS is a temp can only work 2 seasons. Start in may-laid off in September-if you do a good enough job called back in october and work thru xmas. So as I am walking out the door she tells me if I am really set to do it call her in september that way i can work thru xmas and then i can come back the following year in may and work till september. For whatever reason she said that might give me a better chance of catching on permanent. If I had to guess it might be the contract situation her thinking some employees might leave and might give me a better chance of getting permanent. Still haven't decided if i am going to do it. Probably will but not sure.
