According to research Amazon ships 40% with USPS, 20-25% with USP and 15-20% with FedEx. This data is a year old and Amazon has really ramped up shipping themselves and not using a third party carrier. I do not see them switching exclusively to UPS especially since the USPS does early morning(from 3am in some cities) and Saturday/Sunday delivery that UPS does not.

Saying management "figures a way" gives them credit for actually calculating something. They'll stick to the guesstimate method.
