Otherwise you would have to argue that criminals tend to avoid performing a crime in front of the police. that would be deterrence.this is not to say that you cannot make a case for a more effective use of that deterrence. but its clearly logical that criminal activity would be greatly increased if there were no police and that is also deterrence. the good news is minus a police force many of those criminals would face swifter justice at the hands of honest armed citizens.</blockquote>
