I find it somewhat duplicitous that an avatar depicting the President as an insane criminal is allowed, but one mocking the fears that some have of him is banned.

I don't know why your avatar was banned, but I can suggest a couple of possibilities.

As you know, I thought your avatar was Hitler. As avatars are so small, it makes it very hard to see details. I was more comfortable with it after you enlarged it so details could be seen. I wouldn't have an avatar with my President made into Hitler, but I now understand the message now that I've seen it.

We received complaints, perhaps because others thought it was Hitler too. We do not respond to every complaint, some are quite frivolous, but a Hitler avatar (even just perceived) does raise eyebrows.

As for the Joker Obama being OK, perhaps that could be because the Joker is a cartoon character while Hitler was responsible for the deaths of millions of real people.

I'm very interested in the responses this thread will bring!

I actually looked at the small avatar, before and understood it. However, the moustache is just a thing, that Hitler took totally out of style (hiddin law forbidden), actually. You show up to work with a shaved moustache like that in anywork place, you'll probably fired. Or in a bar, beaten !
To be honest I don't like either Avatar (Socialisum, or the moustache), but it's suppose to be freedom of speech. Therefor it shouldn't have been forbidden on this site, or both taken out.

Hmm....some how I don't think the same outrage is shared with the Townhallers, Teabaggers and Birthers.....all of whom have displayed Nazi/Hitler symbolism at their pep rallys...If one believes that the Holacaust did happen, or has been effected by WWII, shouldn't that someone distance themselves from these nuts ??? Or is their conscience clear by doing nothing, which essentially is embracing these Nazi resurrectors.....

I going to have to agree with Fact Check on this one. This by no means is a blanket endorsement of Fact Check but I do believe the point of the avatar was not to glorify Hitler in any way but rather to portray Obama like some people have and then ask how can he be all these contrasting and even contradiciting things all at the same time.

I personally think Obama gobbles and swallows (I can't use the "S" word) but I just have to wonder if some folks around here only want to dish it out and run crying to mommy when it get's dished back!

I changed the avatar, after many complaints, both reported to BC mods, and private messages. My thought process was, it was found distasteful to many. I think I changed it after fact check changed it to Obama with a moustache.
You could apply to the owner of the site, she has the power to undo anything we do.
As for would I do it again, yes I would if the same people complained. Majority rule. Many had much more seniority than fact check, I also took that into consideration. These posters have longevity here, fact check does not.
That was my rationale, flame away.

I was talking about on Brown Cafe but I agree pretty much on the rest.

I went to a tea party on Labor Day and I walked the entire crowd looking at them and their signs.
I did not see any Nazi symbols or the like.
These people strongly disagreed with Obama's policies, especially on his Socialist agenda, but they did not disparage him as a person.

I remember all the Nazi symbols displayed and verbiage comparing Bush to Hitler over the last 6 or so years. I did not think that was right either.

You don't have to explain a thing to me. I support you guys and always have, even when I've been corrected. My comments were aimed at the cry babies here who love to collect in packs like wolves and dish it out but when someone dishes back, they scream like that cat I posted in another thread at Moreluck. Sorry More to have such fun at your expense but you were to easy!

If I'm flaming anyone, it's those childish whiners who scream at anyone who dares not walk lock step with them and when they dare to voice they come attacking.

It's not rocket science to see Fact Check's motive but I just think it's childish to run to the mods because in truth someone dare to disagree and offer a counter point and you esculate the situation with name calling and from there it goes up the scale.

The avatar was fine just as Brett's is. I actually like Brett's BTW. I personally believe had many of these cry babies controlled themselves long ago, Fact Check might not be here at all!

My apologies in advance to the mods and Cheryl for this post and pic and I'll understand any action if you see fit! I just believe a whole lot of this nonsense and some of the trolling is a results of actions long ago because some people didn't like how others built sandcastles in the BC sandbox!

Never understood why that was pulled but that's me.
I personally let things slide in the Current Events forum (as long as it stays civil and no personal attacks) as this seems to be the nature of this beast.

Fact Check seems to have an ax to grind and likes to push the boundaries. I'm OK with that since I don't perceive it as "being serious" but just a game.

I believe all the Mods are slow to react until we get feedback (red triangle sign at bottom left) unless it is very obvious. The Obama/Hitler avatar was left up until we started getting complaints from multiple members.

I'm pretty sure we don't have any of the nazi symbol posters here so perhaps we should leave them out of the discussion.

I find it interesting that the posters who are quick to scream racist or accuse the conservatives of being nazi symbol posters everytime we the conservatives disagree can not see the offense in posting a hitler caricature on this site.

I personally was born in germany and lived and experienced some of the stigma that was associated with what the nazi's did during world war II. I often had to correct school mates who were quick to call me a nazi when I informed them of my birth.

I find the picture and what it represents highly offensive. I firmly believe that had I chosen a picture of the grand dragon in full garb that my avatar would also have been found offensive.

For some reason the liberals think they have a right to promote pictures of nazi butchers while conservatives have to dance around the issue as if on eggshells. Sensitivity appears to be a standard applied to conservatives only.

I think tooner handled this very well. The brown cafe is a community. My complaint alone would not have changed a thing. Once enough members of the community spoke up the issue was addressed. The process works.

Can you provide us of one picture of a nazi symbol at a tea party before Nancy Pelosi's comments about them being present? There was one incident where a sign comparing Obama to Hitler was present at a rally, and it was discovered the man carrying that sign was paid by a left loon group to do it. Sorry diesel, it looks like your post is full of fail yet again.
